#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR VINCE FLYNN RETURNS WITH HIS MOST EXHILARATING POLITICAL THRILLER TO DATE, A PULSE-POUNDING TALE OF ESPIONAGE, COVERT INTELLIGENCE, AND COUNTERTERRORISM.
The action starts six days after a series of explosions devastated Washington, D.C., targeting the National Counterterrorism Center and killing 185 people, including public officials and CIA employees. It was a bizarre act of extreme violence that called for extreme measures on the part of elite counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp and his trusted team member, Mike Nash. Now that the initial shock of the catastrophe is over, key Washington officials are up in arms over whether to make friends or foes of the agents who stepped between the enemy’s bullets and countless American lives regardless of the officially authorized consequences. Not for the first time, Rapp finds himself in the frustrating position of having to illustrate the realities of national security to politicians whose view from the sidelines is inevitably obstructed.
Meanwhile, three of the al Qaeda terrorists are still at large, and Rapp has been unofficially ordered to find them by any means necessary. No one knows the personal, physical, and emotional sacrifices required of the job better than Rapp. When he sees Nash cracking under the pressure of the mission and the memories of the horrors he witnessed during the terrorist attack, he makes a call he hopes will save his friend, assuage the naysayers on Capitol Hill, and get him one step closer to the enemy before it’s too late. Once again, Rapp proves himself to be a hero unafraid “to walk the fine line between the moral high ground and violence” (The Salt Lake Tribune) for our country’s safety, for the sake of freedom, for the pursuit of honor.

I like Vince Flynn books–but the copy of “Pursuit of Honor” I preordered back in May showed up a few days ago–missing 33 pages. Really frustrating.

This is a rightwingnut screed against women and the Constitution. Worse, it’s predictable and dull. Tired plot that glorifies male CIA agents torturing American citizens with whom they disagree, in America, lacking oversight; particularly targeting pro-choice women with power. I don’t reflect I’ve thrown a book away in twenty years — I tossed this violent piece of despise in the trashbin where it belonged.

These epic mysteries are a special treat for readers who like both mysteries and past novels. A fantastic companion read to Pursuit Of Honor is House Of GhostsHouse Of Ghosts, by newcomer Lawrence Kaplan.
Imagine that Raymond Chandler wrote The Winds of War and you can start to know why House Of Ghosts is such different and compelling detective tale. Detective Joe Henderson is the modern incarnation of Philip Marlowe–hard boiled, hard drinking, hard loving, delightfully cynical, offering wry observations of life in the age of Starbucks.
The tale starts in the sweltering summer of 2000 when Preston Swedge, an alcoholic recluse and World War II veteran, has died in Westfield, New Jersey. At his estate sale, retired local police detective Joe Henderson discovers a 1944 diary describing a rogue attempt by a Jewish-American pilot named Paul Rothstein to drop his bombs on Auschwitz’s killing complex where nearly 300,000 captives were about to be murdered.
With the fortitude of a Maccabean zealot and the jingoism of an American freedom fighter Rothstein had set out to defy his commanders who had prohibited any attempt to save Jewish lives. Joe Henderson’s curiosity launches him on a campaign for the truth and a shocking revelation when he tracks down the last living witness who can solve the mystery of why the raid never happened.
Epic in its breadth, House Of Ghosts sweeps effortlessly from contemporary Westfield, New Jersey to the Princeton University of 1939, and on to the aerial battle above Italy and Poland in 1944. Along the way you’ll meet up with notables such as Charles Lindbergh, Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau, Jr., All-purpose Fulgencio Batista, and Alina Gilbert, the exotic dancer who helps to make this the hottest summer on record.
This is a fantastic read for Pursuit Of Honor fans. For some reason, it sells out periodically on Amazon. I do see that there are copies available as I write this, but. House Of Ghosts House Of Ghosts
