A excellent book but missing in color and pictures. I like alot of what is it supposed to look like book. Really though, the recipes and thoughts are very excellent and gives you alot of additional thoughts from the garden also. Preferably i use the Ball Book of Canning, Freezing, and Dehydration and that is wonderful. Basic but very excellent.

In my forays into preserving food, I’ve regularly gone to the internet to search for tips (how long do I blanch persons beans again?). I finally got tired of having to do that, and bought this book. I have a feeling this will be an indispensable part of my kitchen library. I never knew there were so many ways to preserve food, and this book has simple instructions for all of it! It has some recipes at the end, which look intriguing – and I was glad there weren’t so many recipes that it sacrificed the information on preserving food. I should’ve known Rodale would produce an brilliant guide.

I went back to canning for the first time in years (and years). I had this as one of my start up books. It has some decent recipes and if you’re strating out, it is a excellent book to have on your shelf. I canned my fisrt batch using this book – I had forgotten how much space you can end up using if you are not organized so don’t be like me, be a bit more methodical about setting up. Delight in -

If you are looking for thoughts to help you do something with your home grown fruits and veggies, this is a fantastic reference. It is not as excellent for canning as this book by Ball Ball Blue Book of Preserving, but it’s GREAT overall. Lots of excellent recipes, step by step instructions for freezing, preserving, etc. I have establish it extremely helpful.
