The goal is to be able to enter into and sustain an enlightened state of consciousness throughout everyday life. Through meditations and simple techniques, Eckhart shows readers how to silent their thoughts, see the world in the present moment, and find the truest path to happiness.Amazon.com Review
This manual-style book straight away dives into Eckhart Tolle’s principles of “living in the moment,” which could be a jarring experience for readers who haven’t read his preceding book, The Power of Now. For the initiated, though, this makes an brilliant companion guide–rich in exercises and meditations to help readers get out of their minds so they can live more quietly in their bodies. Sometimes it’s hard to fathom what on planet Tolle is talking about: “To regain awareness of Being and to abide in that state of ‘feeling-realization’ is enlightenment.” Be uncomplaining. All concepts will be revealed (or at least more carefully clarified). Ultimately, Tolle leads readers into a new form of thinking (or really not thinking) that erases the consuming habits of waiting, worrying, and being in dread. The first step is ending the “delusion of time.” He questions, “Are you permanently trying to get somewhere additional than where you are? … Is most of your doing just a means to an end?” If so, Tolle has a book full of advice for you. As simplistic as this may sound, Tolle’s work has spiritual merit and depth, especially for frantic Westerners who find their lives diminished by packed schedules and busy-ness. –Gail Hudson

“When you aver well documented prior spiritual thoughts to be your own it only diminishes your credibility. I wish Tolle provided appropriate references – such as the Upanishads, the Gita, the Kashmir Shaivism, the Dhammapada and the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra. Enlightenment means perfect dissolution of the ego -not the refinement of it — so when I see Tolle trying to pass this stuff as his own – it just takes away of his aver of being enlightened. Tolle regurgitates in verbally articulate manner spiritual gossip or as another reviewer place it a rather amusing manner superficial “Hippy-Dippy wisdom”. “
Ultimately there are many religions but spirituality is only one and the essence of it is documented in the Upanishads.

I listened to this work on CD. It took two attempts before I concluded it. I concluded listening to the first CD and thought I had missed something so I re-doubled my efforts and started again. I came away with the feeling that there were a couple of things of value but overall you will really have to dig deep to find them. Also, if you are a Christian reader/listener you won’t get past track one on the first CD.
Even after studying world religions in college and living in Asia for a year, I was left with very small to walk away with from this book.

Previously read a review, on “The Science of Mind Mag.” Appeared appealing. In my estimate the book is fully loaded with too much “Bibliography”.Excellent for a name effective on a “PHD” and doing research. Entirely too MUCH Bibliography, and Entirely too much Past info. on people doing the research, And missing too much to the point results on the theories they were effective on.
I would have liked a more concise Layman’s approach relating to the spiritual life and sort of a Metaphysical approach, and some direction on how all this applys to our our daily life in finding answers as to where we came from, etc. Sort of the “Chopra, “Dyer”, “Proseman” appraoch. Personally i am effective on a “Spiritual” Journey. I have read reasonably a few articles and books, that have that spiritual approach. Probably a bit Addicted to this message. i do find relief in my readings.
Sincerely yours
Edward L. Arimjo P/S I looking for a name to give the book too!!!!!!!

I like being able to find a point excerpt in this book rather than looking in The Power of Now. It is much simpler for me to do this. I find myself adage over and over that all we have is NOW. Eckhart Tolle is my favorite leader.
