Okay so I thought this book was supposed to be really fantastic, but when I read it, it seemed very outdated; nearly as if it were written hundreds of years ago. Also, I am so over Ben Franklin. So, he invented the kite and the can opener. I reflect that we as a society would have figured persons things out for ourselves after a while anyway. I was looking for some excellent witty sayings to use when I selected up this book. Until I turn 75 next year, I will not consider myself ancient and will not be using any of the outdated sayings or information in this book. As far as an directory goes, my arthritic joints do just fine in predicting the weather for me. In terms of up to date information , I want to recommend Player Haters by Carl Weber.

I was looking forwards to purchasing this product for my spouse. The additional 5 books I ordered arrived but this book was not one of them.
I received an e-mail a couple days later stating that I returned the item, which I did not.
Yes they did credit my account quickly but I did not return this item.

For example, my favorite Franklin quote about taxes – which is so very right today – is this:
“Taxes are indeed very heavy [but] we are taxed twice as much by our Idleness, three times as much by our Pride, and four times as much by our Folly.”
You have to reflect about that one for a second to realize how powerfully right it is. For all the time we waste complaining about taxes, it would be better to just work hard and not waste our money, and as a replacement for save as much as we can. (Not that I’m a fan of taxes, mind you. Just adage…)
And the book is full of so many additional deep self-help truths like that. Get Poor Richard’s Directory but beware! It’s not the kind of text you can speed-read through. As a replacement for you must digest everything slowly.
