I guess one would call these books “beach books” but after one I threw in the towel. The leader is witty and does have odd characters and I judge is reasonably well loved, but this writer is not for me.

One of my friends introduced me to the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and I am hooked! I have not finished the entire series but I did buy this 3 pack to get me ongoing. These are simple, fun, quick reads that make me laugh out loud.

I got this set to read while on trip. I wanted something amusing with a bit of crime solving tale. So I was excited to get ongoing on this series based on the reviews. One thing for sure was how descriptive the writer is and I could truly imagine the tale. I was a bit disappointed with how she made Plum a bit dum and I reflect she was much more intellegent than this. I didn’t laugh out loud at the parts that were supposed to be amusing and the plot was okay and sometimes slow and dull. My favorite character was the grandmother. I don’t reflect it deserves 5 stars but the books were as excellent as 3 stars. I don’t reflect I will get the rest of Plum series since the plot is not that fantastic and I wouldn’t be surpriced if they turn this into a chick flick movie. If you are thinking of getting this set, STOP! Get the first one and see if you like it. I got all three and I was stock reading them. This book is excellent for simple reading and has a bit of an action and appealing characters and for not thinking too much while lying by the beach or the pool.

I received this boxed set as a birthday gift from my mother-in-law, of all people. I had never read any of the Stephanie Plum books before, and after reading the first three, I am hooked. I like Stephanie’s odd character and Grandma Mazur is hilarious. I’m back now to buy the 2nd boxed set. I hope it’s as much fun as the first.
