Product Description
Jamaica in 1665 is a rough station of the English crown, a minor colony holding out against the vast supremacy of the Spanish empire. Port Royal, Jamaica′s capital, a cut-throat town of taverns, grog shops, and bawdy houses, is devoid of London′s luxuries; life here can end swiftly with dysentery or a dagger in your back. But for Captain Edward Hunter it is a life that can also lead to riches, if he abides by the island′s code. In the name of His Majesty King Charles II of England, gold in Spanish hands is gold for the taking. And law in the New World is made by persons who take it into their hands.
Word in port is that the Spanish treasure galleon El Trinidad, fresh from New Spain, is stalled in nearby Matanceros harbor awaiting repairs. Heavily fortified, the impregnable Spanish station is guarded by the blood-swiller Cazalla, a favorite commander of King Philip IV himself. With the administrator′s backing, Hunter assembles a roughneck crew to infiltrate the enemy island and commandeer the galleon, along with its chance in Spanish gold. The raid is as perilous as the bloody legends of Matanceros suggest, and Hunter will lose more than one man before he finds himself on the island′s shores, where dense jungle and the firepower of Spanish infantry are all that stand between him and the treasure.
With the help of his cunning crew, Hunter hijacks El Trinidad and escapes the deadly clutches of Cazalla, leaving plenty of carnage in his wake. But his troubles have just begun. . . .

In books like this one the villains are the Spaniards and the heroes are the pirates. The world turned upside down. It is like Spanish children reading novels where Osama bin Laden is the hero and the angloamericans the blood-thirsty devils who simply deserved their lot to be killed. I am simply horrified that angloamerican children are educated by reading this pack of lies about additional nations, like Spain. No marvel there is so much hatred in anglo-language countries about Spain and the Spanish world. Your are brain-washed with a pack of lies since your early age. It is the Black Legend revived every time. A real pity.

This book is a right rip off of the customer. They do not tell you that the font is made so large (only about 16 lines per page) so that it appears to be a book over 300 pages. If this was printed in regulare font, it would be about 100 pages. It is not a novel it is an outline. I has nothing in its style to even suggest that it was ever really written by Michael Crichton (unless has has a side gig writing very terrible made for TV pilots) Save your money!

Well, what can I say. The number of stars I have for this work should be an indication of how I felt. I reflect the reason this was establish in his files and not sent to the publisher was that he knew it was not a excellent book. But then again maybe it was sent and the publisher rejected it at that time. I reflect they published this book just because they knew Crichton fans would buy it and it was money in their pockets.
I heard there was a second unpublished book waiting in the wings. I hope it is better than this one. But, I reflect I will wait to read reviews prior to purchasing. I do have to say but, that the fee drop for pre-ordering was very excellent.

Somebody please delete this tale from Mr. Crichton’s hard drive or call the shredding company and remove it from the desk drawer. What was he thinking? What were his heirs and editors thinking? Scrub up some of the more obvious and really unnecessary sexual scenes, the tale might find a place on the self of a middle school library where one or two prepubecient lads might drool over its pages during study hall. Give it to NOW and they’ll use it as kindle for a book burning. Truely a rough draft thought inspired by PotC’s success at the time, but lame in tale and unsuspenseful in action. The need for an afterward with an implausible timeline, should have indicated to all researchers and editors that Mr. C. had no intention of this ever seeing the light of day. A joke from the grave, perhaps?
