I’m sorry but this book leaves much to be desired. I would have rated it a one, except the leader does have a certain way with action. But, there were too many holes. First of all, he rumor has it that knows nothing abut the military, mixing up how ranks work, but perhaps that could be forgiven. Then really, at first he turned out to have very small action, turning through a lot of esoteric religious stuff and wasting pages on that. Then in the end, well, the monster blew up and became smaller images of himself. Um. Why didn’t he do that when he was trapped behind the bars that were holding him in and just escape. Wouldn’t that have been simple.
I really despise to place down a fledgling leader but this should not have been published (of course it wasn’t published in print, and it is simple to see why). And there were really very few twists. Oh well.

I like the premise of this book, a demon-like being is unearthed in sou’wester and carried off to a secret government base to study. Unlike most books of this genre, Origin does not make the mistake of bending over backwards to make the religious characters look foolish in a hasten to validate the leader’s scientific chops. To my most pleasant surprise, the men of faith in this book are men of character and conviction, not foolish, bigoted and tiny minded zealots. In today’s media culture, treating traditional faith with such respect is a courageous thing indeed, and may be the only explanation why this book has not been accepted for publication by a major publishing house. This leader is no Dan Brown. He is far better.

I downloaded it because it was well reviewed, and inexpensive. It was a fun read…
The tale starts out as a combination of Jurassic Park, Hell Boy, and Stargate, but as it moves along it starts turning more to horror. I’m generally not a huge fan of horror, but I would still have recommended this book had I paid “the going rate” for it.

This book absolutely frightened me to death! After reading The List, I expected a small bit of horror and a lot of humor in this book. I kind of missed the humor, because I’m one of persons weird people who like a lot of humor with their horror, but the book was still fantastic. I’m currently reading Disturb and will probably start on the Jack Daniels series next. What a fantastic leader!

Reasonably simply a fantastic, fun, roller coaster read. I loved the thought, the action, the way it made the pages glide by. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.
