It is a decent book, with a appealing hero. I learned from it. It read a small slow. If you like reading about vikings, it is not up to cornwell, but it is excellent.

This book contains the life tale of Olaf the Glorious, from when he was establish as a child to be the long-lost son of the previous king, to his eventual coronation and so on until he was lost from human knowledge.
It’s a very fantastic tale, although the style is, of course, a bit older and thus makes for a slow read. There is also a trend of name-dumping; no battle is fought lacking every single hero and warrior on every side being named, which can be tedious.
Still, it was a fantastic and sweeping epic with heroes of all sorts and lots of vik…ery going on, and was exactly what I wanted and expected from a ‘Tale of the Viking Age.’
