Product Description
Two tiny towns in the middle of nowhere: Hope and Despair. Between them, nothing but twelve miles of empty road. Jack Reacher can’t find a ride, so he walks. All he wants is a cup of coffee. What he gets are four hostile locals, a vagrancy charge, and an order to go on. They’re alternative on the incorrect guy.
Reacher is a hard man. No job, no take up, no baggage. Nothing at all, except hardheaded curiosity. What are the secrets that Despair seems so desperate to hide?
With just one ally—a mysterious woman cop from Hope—and many enemies, Reacher goes up against a whole town, hunting the rich man at its core, cracking open his terrifying agenda, asking the question: Who has the edge—a man with everything to gain, or a man with nothing to lose?

Lee Child is the best thriller mystery writer bar none. Jack Reacher returns on his lonely journey to nowhere and takes it personally when a sheriff in a tiny town in Colorado runs Reacher out of town for no apparent reason.

I reflect what is most upsetting to people about this book is the concept of a liberal who could kick their a**.
If you are a fan of Jack Reacher Novels, and you’re not a conservative wingnut, then you should delight in this. Especially since it holds the current administration’s feet to the fire about the “war” in Iraq (and soon to be Iran)

HAPPY TO SEE LEE OFFEND ALL YOU RIGHT-WING BIBLE BANGING FANS OF “REACHER” – OTHER THAN THAT THIS WAS A VERY POOR EFFORT BY LEE CHILD.

First of all let me clarify something.
There’s clearly a battle in Amazon against this book.
You have hundreds of dismal reviews based on one thing only:
Child messed with WAR PROFITEERING creeps!
and the usual fascist monkeys came out to oppose this book.
Pitiful.
Specially from the ones calling themselves Christians.
Anyway…
THE BOOK is classic REACHER stuff. Absolutely compeling and fantastic for any Child fan. It keeps being creative and avoiding flat repetition in spite of being a formula genre. (If you are new to Reacher, try to start from the beggining, not necessary, but useful)
My admiration for this writer keeps growing… he is still on top of his game after many many years… only very few artists can do this.

I loved all of the Reacher novels, especially this one. There is absolutely nothing unamerican about questioning our involvement in an illegal and unncessary war. Lee Child is exercising his freedom of speech – and more power to him!
