In the domesticated animal world I have noticed that animals I want/need to train don’t speak English. They speak who’sthebiggest. They use biting and kicking (horse, ouch)to communicate. I was looking for a book that would help me communicate to a very wily puppy that our family tree is yet to be of him in the pecking order. This book was not suitable for us, as it did not cleary set up that the dog is a dog. This training method may work better for a name with a less willful breed. We establish brilliant results with training classes at our local Petsmart. I don’t reflect the book was incorrect, terrible or a poor choice, just not a excellent fit for our personalities and the dog’s!

Let me start by adage that the authors manage to deliver at least a few excellent points on dog behavior and training (overall) throughout the book; but, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who hasn’t at least a small (excellent) background knowledge of dogs before reading the thoughts of the authors. I personally establish the authors’ style of writing rather offensive, building it hard to end the book. I had high hopes for this book, based upon the previous reviewers’ rankings.

Putting ancient, outdated methods on a DVD doesn’t make them “new” again.
The ever present dog food company plugs were also reasonably annoying.
There are better choices out there see Patricia Mc Connell’s publications.

This was a excellent informative book about dogs and their scenery. This was my first book, since I was getting a dog for the first time, and I must say I have learned a lot from this book and it prepared before getting my first dog.
