I couldn’t place this book down. “A Novel of Suspense” is an understatement. James Grippando has really outdone himself. A very different book. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes suspense novels or otherwise. Just a fantastic book.

I’ve read several of James Grippando’s novels and loved them all but reflect he really has outdone himself in this one. I’m not going into the Synopsis of the novel as several have done that and if you read the inside take in you get the thought. I don’t have the gift with words so will let persons who do give the longer reviews.
When you reflect it’s all happened to Michael, it gets worse. And Why?-who is behind all of this. That is what makes the novel appealing and quick paced-no dull chapters that drag. There are some appealing twists and turns and even some of the excellent guys, aren’t.
I will have to admit to not understanding all the high finance world. I had some difficulty following all of that part but there still was so much else going on that it keeps moving nicely so even if you’re not into Wall Street and high finance the mystery and suspense part if it makes it an brilliant storyline and novel.
Mr. Grippando ties it all up well in the end and overall it’s just a fantastic read!

Take the current financial crisis, mix in a fantastic deal of suspense, blend with a touch of romance and you’ve got Grippando’s best book to date. This is one of persons few “couldn’t place it down” books that I read of late and you won’t be disappointed.

It seems that it is one man being beaten by the whole world. He has lost his money, his marriage and maybe his life. It all involves Wall Street and a name out for revenge. A excellent suspense novel.

Wall Street hotshot Michael Cantella is having a really terrible 35th birthday, and it is only going to go downhill from there. In the first 50 pages of this novel, there are two mysteries: a woman and a chance have both vanished, although not at the same time. I guessed one of the surprises early into the book but won’t spoil it but telling you whether my guess was right. There were lots of unexpected twists and turns in the book. Backstabbing financiers, shock-jock TV financial reporters, less-than-honorable people everywhere, the all-too-familiar collapse of the sub-prime mortgage market. The characters I liked best were Papa and Nana, the down-to-planet grandparents who raised Michael, ants as a replacement for of grasshoppers who never trusted persons “Fonzie” schemes.
For a mystery, this is a relatively non-gruesome tale except for a character named Burn who had a small too close a relationship with gasoline. I even learned more about the reasons for the financial world’s meltdown. Overall, this is a mystery I painstakingly loved.
