I chose I am probably never going to use this book. I like to cook and my sister doesn’t. I reflect it would be better suited for her. I tend to look up recipes for inspiration more than anything and you can get an entire list online for use in a slow cooker for free. I am not adage it is a terrible cook book, just not excellent for me.

I was so excited for this recipe book. I pre-ordered in anticipation. I was sooooo disappointed. It has alot of things that our family tree would never eat and ingredients you don’t have at home.

I bought this book as a gift to another person who had let it be known that she want to have it. I have no thought if it is excellent, terrible or indifferent.

I am an veteran cook and recipes don’t scare me. I like the thought of dragging my crockpot out and using it, so I was excited when I read a review of the latest crockpot cookbooks in my local paper. This was my first venture back into Crockpot Land. I made the Spanish Braised Chicken. It was a watery flavorless mess. Pale boiled chicken, boiled veggies. I wanted something fit to serve adults, so I should have paid attention to the leader’s constant comments that her kids loved this recipe or that. Honestly, my kids would have passed. If you have fussy kids and your taste buds are nonexistent, go for it. I hope the additional 2 crockpot cookbooks I bought will bring better results. This one is going straight to the thrift store.

I have not had a chance to make any recipes out of here yet, but this book is amazingly entertaining to read if nothing else. Like the “verdicts” that follow the recipes. I judge myself to be a “seasoned” user of the slow cooker and am confident that many of these recipes will stand up to the family tree taste tests. I have marked copious recipes throughtout and cannot wait to try each one. I have a 3-in-1 crockpot (with 2, 4 and 6qt crocks), but I reflect I will go out and buy and extra 3-qt just to have around so I can make more than one dish at a time. My sister can hardly wait to make the Pumpkin Flavor Latte since Starbucks doesn’t serve it year-round. Thank you, Stephanie, for a delightful read. Looking forwards to enjoying the recipes very soon!
