Oh my god! You bunch of WHINERS!!! If you want to read a Harlequin Romance where Prince Charming steps in and makes everything better for you, then PLEASE STOP READING JR Ward!
She is SOOO beyond these childish thoughts where in the end, everyone lives HAPPILY EVER AFTER… This isn’t real life! and what JR is depicting is real life in the “Brotherhood”. You want it to be simple and everyone is okay… This isn’t the world of the Brotherhood… And you should realize she is building a WORLD not just a fleeting quicky where everyone gets all the questions answered and everyone is pleased!!
You whined because Butch and Vishous were TOO “close”. You whined because Jane “died” in the end. Obviously the Brotherhood is way too RICH and CREAMY for your digestions, so please do us ALL a favor and stop reading the books.
It’s obvious that you just don’t get it. Stick with a Harlequin Romance. Then you have your pleased ending and all of the problems have been solved in a 200 page book.
Regards,
Pagaan

Phury. What a guy. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d sure like to have a man like that. His unfailing loyalty and caring for his twin and the Brotherhood is admirable. But it’s about time he takes something for himself. In the earlier books, you see Phury as the “goody two-shoes” of the group. It’s nice to see that he’s human (so to speak) after all. So he has issues, don’t we all? Ok, so this book was a small different than the others. I still loved it….I was hooked from page one. And I’m sure it will be even better the second time I read it, just like LU. Yes, I would have liked more romance between Phury and Cormia (I really like the whole “bonding scent” thing). Yes, I wanted to see more of the additional brothers. Yes, I despised that Phury had to hit rock bottom. Yes, it could have been better, but I still couldn’t place it down. I like that we’re seeing more of some characters, just as I’m disappointed that we see less of others. But there’s only so much you can fit in one book. My opinion? I’m tickled that she’s expanding the BDB universe….and in doing so makes endless possiblities for future tales. I look forwards to Rehv’s tale, as well as John’s and his friends. I want to know what happened to Tohr. I want to see them victorious over their enemies.
I’m a voracious reader….I devour books….and I am envious of anyone capable of what Ward has accomplished. Once again, she gives us a view into a spectacular world, of a race that strives to survive and do what’s right, of men and woman who laugh and like, weep and grieve, who have hopes and dreams, faults and flaws. Add all of that together and you get romance. If some were reading it for the like/sex scenes, I’m sorry that they were disappointed. I, but, was not and will recommend this book (and series) to anyone. Can’t wait for the next one…

Let me start by commenting on the additional reviews that complain that the book should be place into another genre such as Urban Fantasy, or Sci-Fi etc. My response…WHO CARES what genre it’s in! It’s a compelling, multi-faceted tale that has such believable characters that I look forwards to going on the ride no matter where the final destination is.
I’ve come to “know” these characters and really care what happens to them. The definition of a romance novel is a book that has a central like tale and an emotionally-satisfying and optimistic ending. OK, so this book has MANY appealing tales in it but there is still the central like tale between Phury and Cormia and as for the ending, it really fits the classic model of a romance.
With that said, Ward weaves a plot full of twists and turns, interspersed between gut-wrenching realism as Phury deals with his drug addiction. Yet through all this, we never loose our sense of marvel as Cormia is exposed to the world for the first time is so many incredible ways. I personally can not wait to see how this over-reaching tale plays out and I will continue to recommend this incredibly well written series to my romance loving friends as well as my friends with a taste for something a small more sophisticated and less predictable then your predictable romance novel.
Keep them coming JR!!
