Maybe I should have ongoing with the first book of the series. The leader does not write these to stand alone. The leader did try to make it clear what was going on, but it seemed for her to do that the book finished up bogged down with backstory not haveing to do much with the current tale, and it was also bogged down with storyline setting up what will obviously be the next few books in the series. If we take that away all we get is some vamps with stupid names and a lot of sex from a main character who suffered centuries of sexual abuse only to be turned around in less than a week by some dull and insignificant female vamp character. I establish the whole thing rediculous. I was hoping for a much richer tale but the leader only cracked the surface of the emotional depth a character who went through so much trama would experience. I expected so much more and was disappointed.

After reading all the reviews and knowing how much I absolutely loved the first and second book in this series, I keenly jumped into this book. I just like a book that pulls you in so completely that you laugh and weep, celebrate and mourn with the characters because they are so plain. This book, despite all the wonderful praise, didn’t do it for me.
The tale line was choppy, there were too many events going on at once, and the timeline for Zsadists’ “recovery” felt way too rushed. I liked Bella more in the previous book than I did in this one. The additional female characters were minimally developed, and the tiny glimpses we got of them didn’t carry through for the emotions the leader was trying to evoke.
The Brothers are all having issues, and some of that baggage was thought provoking. I want to know what it going to take place with John, Vishous, and Phury but I’m not chomping at the bit for the next book.
I am an avid reader and my spouse, who was surprised by my response after reading the reviews posted too, thinks I may have read so much of this genre that I’ve “been there, done that.” Maybe so, but I reflect this was a weak effort on what promised to be a truly unique and fun series.
Certainly read the first two books in the series, knowing that you will like them. Read Lover Awakened one with the thought that it just won’t be as forceful as the first two. You feel me?

I read both additional books a couple of months ago, and was hooked. I loved the brotherhood, and Zsadist was my favorite character in them all. I keenly awaited his book, and seeing all the excellent reviews made me run and buy it.
I felt so cheated when I read the book. I just didn’t feel he was very well developed, his tale sounded haphazardly at best. But Bella was the greatest disappointment of all. She was so awesome in the additional books, but in this one I hardly recognizable her.
Oh the action was excellent, and it was nice ‘n dark, but it just didn’t do it for me.

I gave up literary fiction because I just couldn’t stand anymore tragedy and the constant premise that happiness is a cheap emotion and not worthy of serious writing. This novel, with it’s images of sexual abuse, physical torture, emotional abuse, murder, rejection is like an acid bath. Usually the rays of committed like can cut through some of the gloom, but by the time that scene shows up we have lost a lot of ground with characters we like and care about. No one likes a like and life redeemed tale better than me, but the relentless grim sadness
of this novel just left me sad. Granted the experiences the characters endured were graphic and horrible, but I never sensed a healing. Even at the very end–remember persons–”pleased endings?” they are at least three key characters suffering with no sigh of resolution on the horizon. So much for my special time of R & R–maybe it should be renamed depression & desperation?

I don’t usually bothering writing reviews on books, but after seeing that the book had 5 stars I had to.
This book is truly god dreadful, to place it bluntly. There’s too much plot, too much back tale, and too many characters competing for space. There’s absolutely no real characterization. And of course, it’s so cheesy it’s laughable. Zadist’s (if you can call that a name) history of sexual abuse is just a stupid ploy to gain sympathy from the readers, and as soon as the insipid, forgettable heroine appears he’s able to magically heal. The so called “romance” was the best example of IKEA porn I’ve seen outside a LKH novel. The dialogue honestly made me feel embarrassed for the writer, and the thought of leather-clad, wanna-be thug vampires was just too pathetic to judge.
So, if you’re into that kind of stuff, this is the book for you. As for me, let’s just say this is my new guide on how not to write.
