I despised how the authors condemned babies who are attached to their parents. They seem to reflect that it is abnormal for babies to prefer the company of their parents to that of strangers.
I do like that they don’t condone spanking or crying it out.

Overall I was pleased with this book… the concept is incredible, and the experiments have helped us witrh our three kids tremendously… the only complaint I would have is that I ordered it used, and the book is missing chapts. 6-8…. I dont know if its a publishing problem or not…. but chapt. 6, 7, 8 were missing and then chapt. 9 and 10 were repeated twice!! ???

I was disappointed in this his book I don’t judge that this is effective parenting or that it would help a child grow up to be more reliable.
I don’t judge a child should be abandoned as a form of discipline as when the leader says to place them in there room and latch the door. What take place to listening to a child and having a two sided conversation with a child. This book is all about showing the child that the parent is in control. Kind of a my way or the highway form of discipline. The leader suggests that “The car is leaving in ten minutes” is an enforceable statement, so if the child is not ready in 10 minutes does he place with out his child? I reflect DCFS want to hear about that. Basically, I reflect this form of discipline is harsh and insensitive and it is not at all the kind and gentle form of dicipline it claims to be. Nor do I reflect it will help a child make automatically better decisions when they are older, but it may make them worried to go out and explore the world.

This book has done wonders for our family tree and several others around us, teaching principles of capitalism and freedom by setting limits and long-suffering responsibility among additional valued based principles. Anyone who rejects these wonderful methods is probably a socialist trapped in the entitlement/victim mentality that doesn’t make much value for others but gripes about who’s screwing him. That life must really suck! Here’s to you Mr. mad reviewer.

This book was in poor shape; the pages were written on, highlighted and lots of them were folded on the corners–I knew when I bought it it was used but I have bought used books before from Amazon and never were they in such poor condition. It was a gift to my daughter who is a new mother; she was grateful for the book but disappointed in its condition.
