Product Description
In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, the master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn’t the only threat.
Violent black cyclone clouds hover, promising a storm of devastating proportions as student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against fundamentals both natural and unnatural.

I have to say that I was a bit frustrated with this book because it isn’t really a novel at all on its own. I don’t really like it when authors don’t give any kind of closure to their novels. Lord of Misrule selected up exactly where Feast of Fools left off and leaves off in the middle of the tale for Carpe Corpus to pick up. If Rachel Caine felt the need to make this segment of the tale longer she should have combined Feast of Fools, Lord of Misrule and Carpe Corpus into one novel, because on their own none of them are really full books, they’re merely parts. But anyway, now that I’m done complaining, I did reflect that the tale was very excellent. Morganville is apt more treacherous by the minute and the action is building as never before into the additional novels. I do like the fact that Caine isn’t building her books fleeting small episodes anymore but is really getting into the tale. She may not be the greatest writer but she has a strong voice and an appealing tale to tell. My frustrations are mostly the result of one of my own pet peeves rather than any fault with the novel so I would still recommend it to Morganville fans.

Vampires and humans can get along, right? Only when there’s understanding and cooperation–or a giant tornado heading into town to ruin everything. Now that I have your attention, you need to read Lord of Misrule.
This is the fifth book in the Morganville Vampires series, but I have to say, it’s a fantastic read on its own. Yes, it does help to have the subplots of the prior tales clarified, but really, you don’t need it.
I liked that the vampires and humans co-existed for the most part. I even liked that despite the crazy scenery of a college town, things are pretty low key in Morganville. As I’d expect with a teen novel, there is plenty of angst. Claire and Shane have a gutsy small romance going and for a heroine, Claire kicks some serious behind. She is a fantastic role model for teen girls because she sticks up for herself and persons she cares about. That’s not to say she’s perfect, but she’s relatable.
The writing is forceful and quick-paced. I went through this book in one sitting and raved for more! Bishop is everything I wanted to despise in a terrible guy and the dichotomy of the town once they choose to choose sides gripped me and made me laugh out loud at times.
If you want a tale that will pull you in and make you hunger for more, then you’ve establish what you need in Lord of Misrule. I give this book 4 suns.
