Product Description
Set in 1983, Let Me In is the horrific tale of Oskar and Eli. It starts with the grizzly discovery of the body of a teenage boy, emptied of blood. Twelve-year-ancient Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last—revenge for all the terrible things the bullies at school do to him, day after day. While Oskar is fascinated by the murder, it is not the most vital thing in his life. A new girl has stirred in next door—a girl who has never seen a Rubik’s cube before, but who can solve it at once. They become friends. Then something more. But there is something incorrect with her, something odd. And she only comes out at night. . . .

Simply a poorly constructed novel which just petered out at the ending… obviously creative had run dry and the novel just left to hang

Utterly appalling. I couldn’t get beyond the first couple of chapters.
Vampire tales are fine: no problem. They’re fictional. I originally assumed that this book was a non-”chick lit” version of “Twilight.” Incorrect.
But, the book’s description of child mutilation, sexual abuse, and murder is beyond the pale for me. It’s certainly beyond what I can read for pleasure.

I had to use one star, but I’d like to rate it negative infinity stars. Nevermind the folks that thought the Harry Potter series was Satanic. This book truly is evil. How anyone could read it through and not require a brain transplant is beyond me. I establish it so disturbing that I really shredded the book after reading a few chapters. I wanted to burn it, but there was too much ice and snow outside. There is simply no redeeming feature about the tale, and lacking that, there is no authentic tale.

If you like tales about paedophiles, dysfunctional families, broken homes and a gang of middle aged low lifes who appear to spend most of their time in a Chinese restaurant smoking and getting p*ssed and in which none of the characters, including the children, possesses any redeeming qualities then you’ll like this despicable effort. Seldom have I read a book in which the leader appears so much to want to paint such a loathsome and degrading portrait of humankind. [...]. I despise not to end a book but I had to struggle to end this, in what must be the literary equivalent of wading through a cesspit.
And finally, it’s not even well written. As for comparisons with Stephen King – purlease!

I reflect the book could be shorter. The leader spent a lot of time in providing background info on characters that really didn’t matter that much in the tale. Maybe the book could be shortened by 50-100 pages. The tale is a fantastic one, but the presentation lacked….something I can’t pinpoint.
