Product Description
One day I was 12 years ancient and broke. Then Grandma gave me Grandpa’s ancient riding lawnmower. I set out to mow some lawns. More people wanted me to mow their lawns. And more and more. . . . One client was Arnold the stockbroker, who offered to teach me about “the beauty of capitalism. Supply and Demand. Diversify labor. Distribute the wealth.” “Wealth?” I said. “It’s groovy, man,” said Arnold.
If I’d known what was coming, I might have climbed on my mower and putted all the way home to hide in my room. But the lawn business grew and grew. So did my profits, which Arnold invested in many things. And one of them was Joey Pow the prizefighter. That’s when my 12th summer got really appealing.

I got this book because the tale sounded really appealing, and it is. It’s really poorly written though, which was disappointing. It could have been much better

Once again, Amazon was able to recommend a book that my son loved. I used to say that I had a son that didn’t delight in reading, but I feel like I can’t say that anymore. He loved this tale and kept reading parts out loud to the rest of the family tree. We all finished up reading and enjoying it. The main character is very simple to tell to and the leader did an incredible job getting the reader to know the character’s problems and emotions. This book is a must read for all kids!!

I wish I would have known this book would turn so violent in the end. I thought it was a book about a boy who learned how to run a business and make his own money, and as a replacement for it turned into him building a choice to take the law into his own hands, and handle a business situation in a really unbelievable manner. This book gives a bizarre message about how to handle competition and amazingly his parents go along with it! I thought the first half of the book was really excellent and couldn’t wait to have my son read it, but after reading through to the end, I would not recommend this book if you’re interested in teaching your children about how to run a legitimate business and learn critical business skills.

I bought this book for my nephew who is 10 years ancient, and was a bit disappointed by the tiny number of pages. Although the content seemed age-appropriate, I was hoping for something that he could delight in for longer.
