Product Description
Lovable hand-knit playthings, featuring clever twists on classics and delightful reversibles and interactive toys.
Kids like toys, and toys you make yourself are extra-special. If you could buy these imaginative playthings in stores, they would glide off the shelves! This book features stuffed animals, including a luscious lamb and a gigantic giraffe, and finger-puppet fruits that will delight babies and toddlers. With step-by-step directions, clear diagrams and drawings, and gorgeous photographs, knitters of all levels will find it simple to make the Pull-Toy Mama Duck and Ducklings, the set of Russian nesting dolls, and the Princess and the Pea Set. Even older kids will delight in these, as well as the Felted Bouncy Ball, a felted version of a Super Ball that’s perfect for inside play. A series of five reversible toys—a frog that turns into a turtle, a mouse that changes into a cat, an egg in a nest that transforms into a blue bird, and so on—showcases the creativity that makes Susan B. Anderson a rising star in the knitting world.

I was really looking forwards to getting this title after reading all the excellent reviews. I was highly disappointed, but, to find that most of the toys were not very attractive. The giraffe on the take in is by far the best looking, and it is pretty cute. The additional toys, but, have a mangy look. Some of the animals have paws that look like spooky tree twigs, ditto for a lion’s mane. Two of the patterns are also taken up with simple balls and cubes.
On the positive side the book is well made, with wire binding so the pages lay flat. I can’t vouch for the accuracy/ease of the patterns since I was so turned off by the pictures of the final products I didn’t bother to make any before I returned the book.
Maybe the leader’s knitting style just isn’t my personal cup of tea, but I would certainly recommend seeing at least 3 or 4 pictures of the toys in this book before purchasing.

What more can I say about this book that everyone else has not said. There is one feature that is regularly ignored by knitting book publishers. This book is spiral bound which makes it so much simpler to hold my place when effective a pattern. I have worked a couple of the puppets for my grandson and he likes them. I can’t wait to start on the wiggly tailed pig.

The knitting directions for the toys in this book were simple to know and follow.
They produced unique and lovable toys that I use for baby shower gifts for the new baby and birthday/christmas gifts for the kid.
I especially loved the “reversibles” for small girls………they are so proud when showing you how they work!!

I like this book! The critters are lovable and the patterns are simple to follow! I have permanently had issues with additional pattern books, but not this one. I have concluded the bunny and now am on to the hippo! I intend to knit my way throught this book.

I’ve already made the balls and am starting the teddy bear. What a fantastic book of patterns. Wish yarn was described by weight and yardage for each toy.
