You’d be hard-pushed to find a more comprehensive, engrossing and just unadorned fun-to-read guidebook than the Eyewitness Travel Guide: Ireland. Spilling over with all sorts of useful information for the traveler, you’ll find three-dimensional drawings, floor plans, detailed neighborhood maps with a street-finder pointer, and even past timelines. Broken into several sections (including “Introducing Ireland,” “Region by Region,” “Traveler’s Needs,” and “Survival Guide”), the guide paints a perfect picture of the country. Readers will especially like the hundreds of color photos of everything from the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare to the Connemara landscape of County Galway to out-of-the-way pubs and street-by-street illustrated city walks (Dublin’s Southeast walk takes in famed landmarks such as Trinity College, St. Stephen’s Green and the Shelbourne Hotel). You’ll also find listings for Aran sweaters, Waterford crystal, and Celtic recordings. –Jill Fergus

I received this book and the book binding was broken already. The condition of the book is in poor to moderate shape. I am disappointed for the to have been my first experience with Amazon.

Although Eyewitness Travel Guides may offer more visual guidance than additional guide books, they are still reasonably terrible. Maps are hard to read and information is inconsistent.

We are preparation a trip to Ireland later this year and being the avid researcher that I am, I ongoing reading castoffs from ex- tourists a few months ago. We tend to steer clear of the beaten path and to explore God’s country and the planet’s natural beauty rather than touring institutions. A excellent day for us is a sunrise, excellent food, venturing out on our own driving and walking about as we please, taking hundreds of photos of land and seascapes, visiting with the native folks, and enjoying the sunset. I have 3 reference books, Frommer’s, Lonely Planet and DK Eyewitness Travel (the only new volume we really bought). Upon my return I’ll tell you which was the most helpful to suit our needs.

I like the DK Publishing Eyewitness travel guide to Ireland. Having recently traveled to Ireland, I brought it with and establish it very timely and useful. It has fantastic information, illustrations (I especially like the 3D perspectives), and photos about Ireland and it’s many points of interest. I really loved the information and suggestions as we drove around the Ring of Kerry and visited the Skellig Islands and West coast this time around. A fantastic travel guide and well worth the fee.

I just received this book and I am VERY disappointed. It probably is a very excellent guide book but the print is so light and tiny that I am having a terrible time trying to read it. There is no way that I can try to read it while in a car or airplane. Just be aware – it is VERY hard to see the print.
