This refers to the CD version. I did listen all the way to the end, I kept thinking there was going to be something, but nonstop to be disappointed.
I establish the analogizes to be strained beyond usefulness (evaluating a name’s integrity by the size and shape of the wake they make… are their people waterskiing on it?)
It seems to be politically incorrect to come out in challenger to “integrity” in this day and age, but frankly this book didn’t help me much.

This book is a secular approach to an issue that is best discussed from a Christian perspective. Because of this, it falls fleeting of accurately describing what integrity is and how to attain it.
I’ve done some research on the issue of integrity in the last two years. The impetus was an opportunity to be involved in crafty a center of integrity for youth. That was the motivation for reading this book and another book on the theme written by Stephen L. Carter. Dr. Cloud talks about integrity in the context of the work environment, whereas Mr. Carter discusses the issue from social and political perspectives.
Both men are Christians. Mr. Carter acknowledged that his Christianity influenced his views on integrity. But, Dr. Cloud avoided building the tie explicit. The omission must have been intentional, because Dr. Cloud is a renowned Christian leader, who wrote the best seller book “Boundaries”.
Dr. Cloud’s objective is to show you how to attain business success. He wants you to see how integrity is the key component in reaching this goal. His definition of integrity is limited in this context. He defines integrity lacking mentioning how our relationships with God foster integrity.
A related issue is how you define success. If success is strictly defined as attaining status or wealth the title of the book should be “Business Integrity: The Courage to Meet the Demands and Reality of the Business World.”
Even so, many people have attained financial success using the broader definition of integrity that acknowledges God’s role. This leads to a broader definition of success that is defined as “contentment.” The goal is to have peace with God as well as with others. Financial success and status are not precluded, but are not the primary objectives.
At least Dr. Cloud doesn’t make any recommendations that forestall you from attaining the more perfect integrity that comes from God. He just doesn’t tell you how to buy it. Therefore, I recommend that you read both Dr. Cloud’s book and the Bible if you want to wish to business success and erect right integrity, respectively.
Another reason for reading the Bible in conjunction with studying Dr. Cloud’s book is that some people will experience frustration, if they only focus on business success. Spiritual success is immune to the vagaries of the market. Furthermore, the type of integrity a Christian builds offers eternal rewards, not just rewards for this life.
