Anita is pushed to her limits-both well and passionately-when she is called in on what appears to be a case involving a vampire serial killer preying on strippers.Amazon.com Review
As Incubus Dreams opens, Anita Blake may be America’s most powerful vampire hunter and necromancer. So it’s no surprise that the Regional Preternatural Crime Investigation Team seeks her help when a St. Louis stripper is murdered and the evidence points to unusual serial killers: a group of seven vampires. It appears a master vampire has gone rogue–and may prove too powerful for Anita Blake, even if she can gain help from not only her vampire consort, Master of the City Jean-Claude, but from the wereleopard king Micah, her additional lover, and the alpha werewolf Richard, her bitter ex-lover.
It would be an exaggeration to say that Laurell K. Hamilton’s Incubus Dreams is just one sex scene after another. This twelth novel in her bestselling Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series presents a wedding, a murder, and a lot of relationship angst before getting down and dirty on page 89; and the sex scenes intermission on page 377 to let the mystery plot resume. The series deftly blends fundamentals of alternate history, horror, romance, erotica, and mystery, but anyone reading Incubus Dreams for the murder plot is going to be frustrated. But, Incubus Dreams is a considerably stronger and more appealing book than its talky predecessor, Cerulean Sins, and fans will delight in the many new developments in Anita’s intricate like life. –Cynthia Ward

We have watched Anita become her own person, she is strong and she is dominant and she is so many things that so many women wish they could be. The sex is something she is fighting and it overwhelms her to be in the situations she finds herself in. She was not raised to be the way she has become, can’t you tell to that??? Sometimes we become what we dread most. I like the Anita Blake books and have gotten many of my friends hooked on her as well. I like to watch the developement of the characters. If you are not pleased with the books, by all means place them for the ones of us who like them.

First off, I’d like to say that I have no issue with LKH’s writing. She tells a fantastic tale. But what the heck is going on? She’s turned Anita into a name admirable into a name pitiful. Having read the book earlier than its relief date, I was extremely disappointed in the turn these books have taken. I am not a prude by any means, but I don’t reflect there is one chapter in this book where the heroine (aka bimbo) is not getting boffed by a name. I reflect Anita should stake Jean Claude, cut off his head and burn the body until he was nothing but ashes for what he did – turning her into a sexual vampire. All of her mores have been just compromised. Triumverates be damned. The exuses are conveniently the ardeur, which she doesn’t even try to fight, and the fact that she “likes” just about everyone she has sex with.
- she likes Jean Claude
- she likes Richard
- she likes Asher
- she likes Micah
- she likes and feels sorry for Nathaniel
- she likes and feels sorry for Damian.
- she likes (sort of likes) Jason.
the list goes on from there, as they are not the only guys she has sex with. And then, she doesn’t even get the terrible guys in this book.
I reflect Anita should pack her bags and tell all of these guys to go screw themselves. Anita loses most of her humanity and self to everything she permanently fought against.
A terrible disappointment. I’ll wait the next time and read reviews before I buy the next Anita Blake.

I am not a writer. I lack the imagination and creativity necessary to make novels. I but applaud and delight in the works of persons that do.
There have been several books in my life I have not loved but I have never felt the need to ruin the work or the leader ever. For the “loyal” fans who proceeded to dump on LKH please take your type of loyalty elsewhere because she does not need you.
If you feel the best way to show support of a name is to needlessly insult them please seek help for your mental illness.
For persons who logically and reasonably stated your objections I’m sure LKH thanks you for you feedback and for all the others I personally wish you to perdition.
As to the actual book I will not give an opinion..you win some you lose some but it is all about your personal enjoyment. If you want to sound off on something go to the Election forums and place your views out there. Support my fellow servicemen and I or not but REMEMBER to do something that makes a difference VOTE!
Any responses PLEASE feel free to write me.
