The previous books in this series are available on Kindle–why not this one? Why do publishers keep playing these games with us, the readers? Frustrating.

Hot End by Erin McCarthy is a full throttle romance. You better buckle up cause it’s a wickedly fun and sexy ride.
Suzanne Jefferson life is out of control. She is flat broke and trying to make a go of it as a wedding planner. The bride is a bridezilla on wheels which is enough to give anyone a headache. If that wasn’t terrible enough her ex-spouse is the best man. Suzanne is still dealing with the end of their marriage that happened two years ago. Dang that Ryder Jefferson for still building her motor run.
Ryder Jefferson still likes to look out for ex-wife Suzanne. Even after the break up of their marriage she is constantly on his mind. He is floored when a mix up has them still married. Ryder facts since he is in the wedding party this will give him access to pour on the charm and get Suzanne back in his bed.
Suzanne and Ryder never had any problems in the bedroom. That for sure hasn’t changed but can they learn from their past and work on staying married.
Hot End is a must have for any romance lover. Its quick paced, delightfully amusing and touching. Ryder and Suzanne have gone through a lot during and after their marriage. Their willingness to bend has them coming out with a better relationship then they ever had. Erin McCarthy’s delivers another priceless read. I am permanently keen to read the next book by this leader.

The overall theme of the book felt real to me. A LOT of people struggle to make their marriages work due to poor communication skills. They make the same mistakes again and again. People jump to conclusions and say things in the heat of the moment they wish they could take back. And sometimes, like can drown in a sea of animosity and unfulfilled expectations.
Suzanne is not your predictable heroine. She is brash, opinionated, snarky, and has a fleeting fuse. And she is proud of it. Ryder is not your predictable hero, either. He’s laid back, nearly passive. Together, they are a fantastic couple when they aren’t railing at each additional, or more accurately, when Suzanne isn’t railing at Ryder. Suzanne and Ryder have been thinking they were divorced for 2 years, when it turns out they really weren’t divorced, after all. Mayhem ensues.
This book had a lot of seriously laugh out loud lines, which I permanently expect from this leader. The cake tasting scene was classic. Very amusing. But Suzanne’s southern sayings flew a small too quick and furious sometimes. It felt forced rather than humorous.
Although the emotional issues of the characters were mentioned, they never had a conversation in which anything was resolved. That was unsatisfying, as I reflect having Suzanne and Ryder sit down and really get to the heart of their communication issue would have been an emotionally wrenching gold mine of a scene. But, most of their problems were caused by lack of communication, so maybe it was right to the characters to not take up it. Which will only lead to more communication problems later…I’m getting dizzy trying to puzzle out whether it was a deliberate go for them not to have any meaningful disclosure or whether it was a question of space.
Overall, the tale resonated with me. Suzanne and Ryder remind me of my spouse and myself early on in our marriage, personality wise. Maybe that’s why I liked it so much, I don’t know. Ryder finally getting it right at the end was very satisfying, as well. All in all, I loved the book very much.
