There’s no place like home, especially if it’s Serenity, South Carolina. For Annie Sullivan, though, the homecoming is bittersweet. She’d permanently envisioned a life there with her childhood best friend, Tyler Townsend. But Ty’s treachery has cost her the family tree and the future they’d once plotted.
For Ty, losing Annie was heartbreaking. Still, he can’t imagine life lacking the three-year-ancient son whose mother left him for Ty to raise. Ty wants it all—Annie, his child and the future he’d dreamed about—and he’s back home in Serenity to fight for it. But getting Annie to forgive and
forget may be the toughest challenge he’s ever faced. With the stakes so high, this is one game he can’t afford to lose.

Sports injury therapist Annie Sullivan is eating breakfast at her mom’s restaurant in Serenity, South Carolina when the newspaper states that Star braves pitcher Ty Townsend is on Injury Set aside following surgery to his shoulder after suffering a potential career ending injury. He is back in Serenity to heal with home cooking, which makes Annie miserable as they were seeing one another until he betrayed her with a sports groupie Dee-Dee.
Ty knows he screwed up when he could not resist the seductive offer, but wants a second chance with Annie. But, the proof of his misconduct is his three years ancient son Trevor who he is has solo custody of and refuses to give up his child even for Annie. As Ty tries to earn a second chance, Dee-Dee arrives in Serenity willing to use Trevor as an extortionist ploy to get what she wants.
The latest Serenity Sweet Magnolias romance (See Sweet Tea at Magnolias) is a pleasant second chance at like romance starring a warm cast filled with southern charm. Although everyone involved proclaims what is best for Trevor is what they want, each of the adults except for Dee-Dee’s thought provoking BF and Annie’s sandwiched mom come across selfish. Still readers will delight in dining at Helen’s restaurant in serenity where sweet ice tea is served to drink.

I like to read Sherryl Woods’ books and painstakingly loved her Chesapeake Shores series and hope there is more to follow.
I keenly awaited received Home In Carolina but sorry to say it was a bit disappointing. Simply because of the character of Annie. I mean, how many times can you be sarcastic, grave, mean, snappy answers to not only Tyler (Ty) but also to Maddie, an adult? And that woman didn’t say a word; another woman would have told her off for talking to her like that!
Everytime Ty spoke to Annie, she had a grave answer! You know, after a while it got to be very very dull and I establish myself wanting the book to be over. I reflect Annie has a problem and needs tablets for her highs and lows! She is fine with her friends and the people she wants to be! After a while I just couldn’t take her. I only hope the next two books in the series, Sweet Tea at Sunrise and Honeysuckle Summer are much better.
Yes, Ty made a mistake but is trying so hard to make it up to her. One minute she says she cares for him and the next, she breaks off with him. Another guy would have never had his patience and would have told her to go take a walk for herself! I am surprised he didn’t! She would have deserved it. He deserved a name so much nicer than her.
I guess maybe it is just me, I get really turned off with a person with these snappy remarks everytime something comes out of their mouths!

Home in Carolina
A nice, homey tale with plenty of heart-tugging action. In the tradition of Debbie Macomber, this book is guaranteed to give a silent, fireside read.
Cherryl Woods has delivered a tale of like lost and regained, with all the stops in between. Her prose is certain to delight fans of sweet romance. This reader is determined to read every book she comes out with.
When one man, raising his child alone, returns to Serenity North Carolina to recuperate from his sports injuries, he is faced with the woman he left behind. Torn between his desire for her and his need to see his child has the best life possible, he fumbles through a would-be courtship with Annie.
Annie, struggling with her own demons when she is faced with the man she once loved, fights her desire for him, and faces yet another battle with her anorexia. Not sure if she can handle the daily reminder of his infidelity, she wants desperately to be a part of his life, and the mother of the tiny, engaging boy who is his son.

I really have loved the Sweet Magnolia series. Each book is a visit with ancient friends. But this visit was not enjoyable. Annie’s rage was understandable to a point for Ty did act irresponsibly but the reward of that darling small boy speaks volumes. Dee Dee was ….. I am looking forwards to the next chapter and hoping for a better visit
