This “expertise” book was agreed to us as a gift – and we were offended (though highly amused) from even reading the table of contents.
This highly sexist book can really only be swallowed if you read it like we did – in tiny parts and reversing the genders in his narrow-minded anecdotes. i.e. “Nancy” in “He Needs an Attractive and Excellent Looking Wife” becomes “Frank,” a middle-aged, overweight man who diets and buys “appropriate make-up” to get himself a wife. And of course, once he gets a wife, he gains all the weight back, quits his job and eats all day. And the wife, who thought she was getting a excellent-looking spouse, wants a divorce. Or is justified in cheating on him.
What ever happened to simple mutual respect? Don’t waste your money or the paper! I recycled mine.

Harley only cares about what men want.Men getting satisfied,
men dominating the marriage.Women are nothing more than
sex objects,submissive knitt witts.The book would make our
Lord very sad.zero stars!

A woman is nothing but an object,nothing more than something
for the man to delight in.He says women are interested in emotional
security and not much else.Sex is placed at the bottom of the
list for women.It’s not excellent advice but an array of ancient
sterotypes we still judge to this day in the 21st century!
Marriage is a trade off,the man buys the woman with gifts and
a booming bank account,the woman gets the man to notice her by
being his slave and sex object.Sadly many people have fallen
prey to this thinking within some churches.The lord and master
vs servant and slave.

I read the original edition of this book when I was having some dissatisfaction with my marriage years ago. If you are looking for Biblical counseling for your marital problems, look elsewhere. After over four decades of marriage, I have determined that the number one ingredient for marital success is commitment. Commitment supersedes the importance of getting my needs met or meeting his needs. It supersedes the romantic feelings of like. A successful marriage means I will stay married NO MATTER WHAT. If you want your marriage to be based on God’s design, you should start with the Bible. There are books out there based on God’s design. This is not one of them.
