A New York real estate tycoon plunges to his death on a Manhattan sidewalk. A trophy wife with a past survives a narrow escape from a brazen attack. Mobsters and moguls with no shortage of reasons to kill trot out their alibis. And then, in the suffocating grip of a record heat wave, comes another shocking murder and a sharp turn in a tense journey into the dirty small secrets of the wealthy. Secrets that prove to be fatal. Secrets that lay hidden in the dark until one NYPD detective shines a light.
Mystery sensation Richard Castle, blockbuster leader of the wildly best-selling Derrick Storm novels, introduces his newest character, NYPD Homicide Detective Nikki Heat. Tough, sexy, professional, Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City’s top homicide squads. She’s hit with an unexpected challenge when the commissioner assigns superstar magazine journalist Jameson Rook to ride along with her to research an article on New York’s Finest. PulitzerPrize-winning Rook is as much a handful as he is handsome. His wise-cracking and meddling aren’t her only problems. As she works to unravel the secrets of the murdered real estate tycoon, she must also confront the spark between them. The one called heat.

ABC made up this ‘leader’ to make an appealing if campy TV show, hired some ghost writer to write this book and then posted fake 5 STAR reviews Amazon. I would say that’s a fantastic marketing ploy, but I’m annoyed by the trend it books to hide the actual writer of the book. For instance many books are plaster in huge letters with legendary authors like Clancy or Asimov, just to find out they only edited the book and who knows if they even did that? They could have easily said “a Richard Castle book written by…..” And some of the reviews are obviously fake “another fantastic Richard Castle book” for an leader that is fictional and this is the first ghost Richard Castle book.

I gave this to my daughter for Xmas so really can’t give a right review. After she reads it I will come back and do an update for you.

I’m a huge fan of the TV show “Castle”. But, this book isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. I’d like to know who really wrote the book, so I can avoid reading anything else by this leader. The plot was elementary and I figured out who did it well before the midway point. Anyone who watches crime Tv could figure it out. It makes me sad that a tree had to die to produce this “novel”. Any 5 star review you read, was probably written by ABC marketing division.

I establish this book to be fun. It reminded me of the TV series, Castle. I kept seeing Kate Beckett in the role of Nikki Heat.

The first paragraph immediately pulls you into the scene and at once you start to get a feel for Det. Beckett, the kind of person she is, the kind of cop she is. The pace is quick and her character comes alive. The rest of book? I don’t know yet: But I’ll be buying the full version and reading every tasty word!
Okay… bought it and read the rest of it. I don’t reflect the bulk of the tale reasonably maintains the energy and plain imagery of the first chapter, but the flow is excellent and you can envision it as another episode very easily. Fantastic literature it’s not. This isn’t Sherlock Holmes or The Maltese Falcon, but it’s still worth a read because it’s just unadorned fun.
