For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort.
Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter’s defeat of You-Know-Who was Black’s breakdown as well. And the Azkban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, “He’s at Hogwarts…he’s at Hogwarts.”
Harry Potter isn’t safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst.Amazon.com Review
For most children, summer trip is something to look forwards to. But not for our 13-year-ancient hero, who’s forced to spend his summers with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who detest him. The third book in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series catapults into action when the young wizard “accidentally” causes the Dursleys’ dreadful visitor Aunt Marge to inflate like a monstrous balloon and drift up to the ceiling. Fearing punishment from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon (and from officials at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who strictly forbid students to cast spells in the nonmagic world of Muggles), Harry lunges out into the darkness with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig.
As it turns out, Harry isn’t punished at all for his errant wizardry. As a replacement for he is mysteriously rescued from his Muggle neighborhood and whisked off in a triple-decker, violently purple bus to spend the remaining weeks of summer in a friendly inn called the Leaky Cauldron. What Harry has to face as he starts his third year at Hogwarts clarifies why the officials let him off easily. It seems that Sirius Black–an escaped convict from the prison of Azkaban–is on the loose. Not only that, but he’s after Harry Potter. But why? And why do the Dementors, the guards hired to protect him, chill Harry’s very heart when others are unaffected? Once again, Rowling has made a mystery that will have children and adults cheering, not to mention standing in line for her next book. Fortunately, there are four more in the works. This book is not sutable for children of any age!!!! Harry and his wizard friend go to an amaganary school called Hagwarts. An evil devil type of thing is after Harry Potter. Harry trys to figure out why, He also trys to figure out why the evil thing killed his parents in the first place. I know the reason is because the were doing witch craft and wizardy. But insted they were killed to be killed. Never let your child read this book because if they do they will try to use witch craft an wizardy. They permanently win, but really they should be killed with the parents. I am very mad at JK Rowling for writing this book because it is not a Christain book. Also I am very discusted by the publishers for publishing this book.
sincerly,
a strong christian

I cannot judge that Amazon would sell Mr. Potter’s books. All his books are about witch craft and pull children into this cult deeper and deeper with each book. If you don’t judge me, take these books to your pastor or priest or rabbi and question them what they reflect!

i cant judge that people really like these harry potter books. i know that its hard to get kids interested in books. what this leader has done has taken off from the violence in tv,movies, video games to make money. this is no different than the hollywood producers. what is even more shocking is that parents let thier kids read this stuff. of course the devil will try to get his dirty tricks in any way and anywhere he can. it may seem harmless at the time but as more people allow thier children to read them the more violent they will come. witchery & magic are of the devil and we are supposed to stay far away from it. of course this has alot to do with greed also. too terrible. there have been several studies on the effect of violence in movies,tv.and now i guess they’ll have to study books. i suggest a different type of book be used for kids.the only reason i gave it a one star was because i had to give it a rating in order for it to be passed on for review. i give it no stars just thumbs down

Christian parents beware! This is not a book you want your kids to read! It’s incredible to me that Christians have been swept away by the media hype over Harry Potter and have completely overlooked the really anti-Bible and anti-Christian perspective that the Prisoner of Azkaban was written from. I know that wizards, witches, the magical arts, astrology, necromancy, are all said to be the stuff of legends and children’s fantasy. The ignorant and uninitiated say, “No harm done!” But I beg to differ! If you are a Christian parent and you are considering buying this book for your children, I fervently urge you to read what the Bible says about the magical arts, astrology, necromancy and the like before you let your children read this. It may seriously affect their spiritual health!

I get that it would be fun to be a wizard and have power over adults. I get that it would be fun to go away to boarding school where people try to kill you all of the time. But I get nothing beyond that point. These books are not fun, the writing is monotonous if not arduous and certainly painfully untalented. The tales are nearly lacking plot and the only twist Rolling seems to be able to pen is- “whose the terrible guy”. Who cares! There is a terrible guy, I get it, make something take place. These non-tales are so dry; all occurrences are situational and not plot driven, leaving virtually no storyline, no fiber. There is some flash in Goblet of Fire that is slightly more entertaining than previous Harry’s, but also less enveloping. The deep and intricate tale (giving nothing away) is as follows: Harry goes back to school, there’s a contest, Harry meets the terrible guy, NOTHING happens, Harry goes home. Deep.
