Product Description
Green Hurricane lantern Hal Jordan has returned from the dead — but not everyone is pleased to see him back on the job as Planet’s protector.
As he re-establishes his life as a test pilot for the Air Force and reconnects with his super-hero comrades-in-arms, Green Hurricane lantern faces renewed threats from his rogues gallery of foes, including Hector Hammond, the Shark, Black Hand and the Manhunters.
This volume also includes a perfectly illustrated tale with art by Eisner Award winner Darwyn Cooke (DC: THE NEW FRONTIER), revealing the first time Hal’s father took him flying as a child.

After Johns’ “Green Hurricane lantern: Rebirth” miniseries, in which he restored Hal Jordan to the role essentially by ignoring the last ten years of DC continuity surrounding the character and making the “Yellow Cosmic Dread Bug” that clarified away Parallax, he ongoing new with a new volume of GL’s ongoing monthly title. This new series ongoing just before “Infinite Crisis” was getting off the ground, and it wasn’t long before it became obvious that Johns was essentially treading water. Jordan’s character takes on a much larger role in the post-IC DC Comics Universe, and consequently the first ten issues of the new Green Hurricane lantern series (this volume collects 1-5, I judge), which took place before and during the Crisis, were there merely to make the presence of a Green Hurricane lantern title in the market. The character wasn’t really rethought, retooled and relaunched until DC’s One Year Later event (the first issues of which were just unrestricted in the Revenge of the Green Hurricane lantern Corps hardcover, also by Johns).

This book was excelent. If you like Hal Jordan or even Green Lanterns you’ll like this. It’s not that action packed or anything, but the art is fantastic and the tale is extremely well done.

Here the new but ancient Green Hurricane lantern goes back to his roots. They need a whole bunch of new Green Lanterns for the new corps, but there is unsurprisingly still a honest bit of mistrust for Hal, so he gets to hang around on Planet, with Guy Gardner getting more respect. Something that is pretty amusinig.
So, back to the whole test pilot thing in the ancient haunts. Pretty soon he has a terrible guy to try and stop, and it isn’t simple, so he needs some advice from the huge ol’ imprisoned telepathic boofhead himself, Hector Hammond.

Green Hurricane lantern: Rebirth is one of the greatest comeback tales from DC comics. When Hal ongoing up his own series, but, there was a huge drop in tale quality. I’m not sure why Johns was so quick to slip into beside the point and unmemorable tales after his smashing debut, but he went no where quick with this mediocre arc and a half. I recommend skipping from REBIRTH to SINESTRO CORPS WAR, with perhaps a detour at the Star Sapphire arc, but only because that pertains to the upcoming War of Light and Blackest Night tale lines.
