Product Description
Cannie Shapiro never wanted to be legendary. The smart, sharp, plus-sized reporter was perfectly pleased writing about additional people’s lives for her local newspaper. And for the past twenty-eight years, things have been tripping along nicely for Cannie. Sure, her mother has come charging out of the closet, and her father has long since dropped out of her world. But she likes her job, her friends, her dog and her life. She likes her apartment and her large, quilt-lined bed. She has made a tenuous peace with her body and she even felt okay about ending her relationship with her boyfriend Bruce. But now this…’Loving a larger woman is an act of courage in our world,’ Bruce has written in a national woman’s magazine. And Cannie – who never knew that Bruce saw her as a larger woman, or thought that loving her was an act of courage – is plunged into misery, and the most incredible year of her life.

I’ve been listening to this book to and from work. I am a thin woman, and from what I’ve read …if this is the way large sized women reflect, it’s no marvel they are permanently fighting the scale! It’s pathetic! The main character in this book thinks that she is the only one that has to watch what she puts in her mouth, that thin woman are miraculously slender lacking any effort or self control on their part.
By the way large size woman talk in books, and to our faces, most of them are bitter women who eat out of frustration and can’t know why they are miserable.
When the character in this book establish out she was pregnant and could not “possibly figure out how she could have let it slip her mind about birth control” After the leader voices her unwanted opinion about pro-choice, the character asking God for divine intervention, I had enough, and threw the CD away.

Book took 16 days to arrive (only 3 states away) and it was LARGE print, which wasn’t told in sales description. Most disappointed, I returned it.

From the title of the book I was expecting long passages describing acts which in, the eyes of the writer, would be bed activity which were excellent. To my disappointment, this book was about being over weight and the process one person followed which resulted in her losing about 80 pounds. For this reason, I have agreed this book a low rating. Had the title been different then I would not have thought as I did. The leader must pay for her misleading title by hearing about my hurt. Hopefully the next book she writes she will choose her title more carefully.

This book was highly recommended to me by a few friends and co-workers. After reading this book, I question the ingelligence of these friends and co-workers (not to mention the leader). I am most sincere when I say that this is one of the worst books I have ever read. I did not feel sorry for the main character midway through the book because I started to see the selfish, negative, unmotivated attitude that probably caused her to gain weight in the first place. If you are over 12 years ancient and still have crushes on celebrities, you will painstakingly delight in this book. If you have EVER come into contact with a woman you really respect, please don’t read this book. It will just upset you to know that some women really look up to people like Cannie and Jennifer Weiner. Terrible.

This book is so featureless and dull, I couldn’t get passed the first few chapters. I don’t know what the hype is all about, it’s one of the worst books I’ve read this year!
