Product Description
The Atlantic Paranormal Society, also known as T.A.P.S., is the brainchild of two plumbers by day, paranormal investigators by night: Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. Their hair-raising investigations, fueled by their unique abilities and a healthy dose of scientific method, have made them the theme of a hit TV show: the SCI FI Channel’s Ghost Hunters.
Now their experiences are in print for the first time, as Jason and Grant recount for us, with the help of veteran leader Michael Jan Friedman, the tales of some of their most memorable investigations. The men and women of T.A.P.S. pursue ghosts and additional supernatural phenomena with the most sophisticated scientific equipment available — from thermal-imaging cameras to electromagnetic-meadow recorders to digital thermometers — and the results may surprise you. Featuring both cases depicted on Ghost Hunters and earlier T.A.P.S. adventures never told before now, this amusing, fascinating, frightening collection will challenge everything you thought you knew about the spirit world.

This is a book written by a couple of Roto Rooter plumbers who pass the time chasing ghosts. While they would like everyone to reflect that they are professionals, they are no more qualified than the average person who belongs to any of the hundreds of ghost hunting groups scattered around the country. For example, they dismissed orbs as being anything paranormal. This was done to make controversy within the paranormal community in order for the TAPS group to make a name for itself. Also, they like to point out throughout their book why they are superior to additional groups who like to spend their time ghost hunting. They aver to be more scientific in their approach, which separates them from the additional groups. They rely on various electronic devices that have never been proven to be effective when hunting ghosts. For example, in one tale they talk about searching a house that was reported to be haunted. The Taps person used an EMG meter, while another person in attendance used diving rods. At two places in the house the person with the diving rods obtained a result that indicated there was a ghost present, while the TAPS people had no result on their meter. When they later analyzed audio tape made at the scene they establish ghost voices on the tape. So their fancy equipment failed to pick up the presence of a ghost, while the diving rods, one of the oldest devices used for this purpose succeeded. In the section regarding their investigation at the Stanley Hotel, they chat about how one room is reported to be haunted by a ghost that was reported to have stolen jewelry. To test this they left jewelry out on the nightstand during the 2 nights they were in the room and because nothing disappeared, they confirmed that the room was not haunted. Give me a break, you cannot make a choice of whether a location is haunted or not in only 2 nights of investigation. Ghosts are not trained circus animals, they do not perform on mandate. Another thing that bothers me about their investigations, which are usually conducted overnight, is the high number of times in which they witness a ghost materializing in human form in their presence. As any person who has researched the paranormal knows, this is a rare event that very few people, even persons who go looking for ghosts on a regular basis are witness to, but, the TAPS people seem to witness ghosts on a regular basis. Also, they include several photographs with the book which are supposed to show evidence of ghosts. If these photographs represent the best evidence they have to offer, then they have gathered very small actual evidence. Perhaps the most annoying part of this book is all the tales about personality conflicts within the group as if we all really cared about their personal squabbling. Just because they were lucky enough to get a gig on TV does not make the TAPS group professional paranormal investigators. If you are interested in reading about ghost hunting, I would advise you to skip this book.

I just want to tell you I received this book last week and could not place it down. Not only did it go into depth on some of the investigations I had seen on tv(gave me more than what I saw)it gave me a view of what some of the earlier investigations were. also very appealing on how taps was ongoing. Loved the book

As a huge TAPS fan and avid reader on the theme of the paranormal, I loved this book, from watching the show I know they are huge sceptics and unlike additional books on the theme you know it to be the truth rather than wondering if it’s a bunch of BS, I really liked that the book included early investigations that were not on the show, I did feel terrible for Brian though, on the show and in the book, I reflect he is treated terribly and it was not honest how Jason said things about him in the book, all in all a fantastic read!
