Product Description
Clinton Kelly won’t just revamp your wardrobe — he’ll revamp your life!
The huddled masses yearn to be fabulous, and finally Clinton Kelly is heeding their call. As co-host of TLC’s well loved What Not to Wear, he regularly transforms dumpy fashion disasters into traffic-stopping, get-an-instant-promotion, reignite-the-passion-in-that- relationship makeovers. But fabulousness doesn’t stop with style. Let’s face it: you might look excellent, but if you’re chomping on that crudité with your mouth wide open, nobody at the party will talk to you — even if you can clarify to them what crudité really is.
Of course, the keys to being better than everyone else aren’t permanently so obvious. Don’t worry; Clinton’s here to help.
- How do you make a flat butt look huge and a huge butt look flat?
- What’s the one trick that will slim down your entire silhouette and make your ta-tas look va-va-voom?
- How do you eat an oyster lacking getting kicked out of the best restaurant in town?
- What’s the grammatically right form of “lay” to use when propositioning a Baldwin brother?
He’ll teach you how to look your best, sound your smartest, use the manners your momma taught you, poach an egg, fix a perfect gin and shot in the arm, throw the most well loved parties (and top the guest list at additional soirees), make your home the envy of your neighbors, and generally be the fabulous person you permanently knew you could be.
From the three style criteria he uses to dress any shape for any occasion, to his eloquent approach to appreciation, to his four must-memorize recipes for whipping up a last-minute meal, Clinton Kelly shares it all in Freakin’ Fabulous.

This book is not what you expect! I like Clinton Kelly on What Not to Wear, but that is not this Clinton. This book is a mess! It’s a stream-of-consciousness commentary on whatever Clinton happens to be interested in. The style of writing is very witty, but that is not enough for a whole book.
To give you an thought of what’s inside: there are 48 pages of Fashion advice. That’s it. The rest of what you’re buying is 21 pages of grammar advice, 33 pages of etiquette, 47 pages of recipes, etc. (Clinton is not a chef.) There are nice pictures, but the subjects – a full page picture of hollandaise sauce on meat, a full page picture of a heat chicken, a full page picture of a French omelet. You get the thought.
This book is not fun. It’s not informative about fashion or style. There’s just no meat to it (except in the lame recipe section).

I have to admit that before reading this book, I had never heard of Clinton Kelly or watched his show, What Not To Wear. When I ordered the book I took the opportunity to watch a few episodes of the show and, while I wouldn’t want to be place through the makeover treatment, it was appealing to watch. The book is likewise appealing. I’m not a huge fashion junkie, and I have no style whatsoever, so persons parts of the book didn’t really interest me very much. Most of the clothing advice, even I could see, was honestly basic stuff with which most people would have at least a glancing familiarity. I loved the rest of the lifestyle advice. I reflect most people will find that the book has useful information on grammar, entertaining, housekeeping, and so into the world. The book’s design was eyecatching and the writing style was cute, witty and ever so slightly sardonic. This is the kind of book that can be read and loved in an afternoon. That said, like all books about fashion and lifestyle, it will probably become dated honestly quickly. In a few years, the people who posed for the fashion photos will cringe at the sight of clothing I already find honestly hideous. It’s not the kind of book that would automatically find a place on the stable bookshelves of most people. And in a couple of years, it’ll be on a lot of library book sale shelves. I’d suggest just checking it out of the library and save the money you might spend on it. As a replacement for, buy yourself something fabulous with more lasting value.

Man, wouldn’t it be fantastic if we could make this book part of the required curriculum in every high school in America? Reflect of whata fabulous nation we’d be!
