Amazon.com Review
Fragile Eternity, Melissa Marr’s sequel to the New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange, returns to Huntsdale, where faeries and mortals intermingle, wreaking continual havoc on each additional’s lives. Aislinn, who became a faerie in the first book, now has to deal with the awkward–verging on impossible–position of still being in like with her mortal boyfriend Seth, whom she can’t even touch lacking burning. To complicate things further, as the new Summer Queen, Aislinn is eternally bonded to Keenan, the Summer King, and the attraction between them is palpable and constant. In the doomed likes that permeate these books, Marr deftly explores the essence of longing as she questions notions of fated like. Her characters are strong, with even the nastiest of the faerie troublemakers coming through as absolutely compelling and sympathetic. And their situations are rife with conflict, from the impossible mortal-faerie relationships to the very ancient familial and courtly spats within the faerie realm. In the hands of a less talented writer, these complexities could easily veer into soap opera, but Marr’s dark sensibility imbues the series with an eerie, sexy, mysterious ambience that gives it just the edge it needs. –Heidi Broadhead

I’m hoping there is going to be another book because she really left things up in the air and I can’t wait to see how things pan out.

Fragile Eternity is the best installment of Marr’s chronicles of faerie to date. Marr is a brilliant writer, I’m really glad the tale isn’t perfect as I have no thought how I want it all to end. Every turn of the page feels as though I am taking a loop on a roller coaster. Every character is endearing and perfectly flawed, I like them all. If only each of them could have their hearts desire. I’m so excited to see how it all unfolds. Brilliant book!

Well, this chapter of the Wicked Lovely series certainly wasn’t what I expected. The tale picks up with Aislinn and Seth, Keenan and Donia, and takes us through relationships that twist and turn.
In Wicked Lovely, I did like Seth and his relationship with Ash, but I did pine for Ash to take Keenan as a partner. The end of Wicked Lovely finds Ash agreeing to be the Summer Queen if she can keep Seth in her life and still keep ties to her mortal life.
In Fragile Eternity (a very appropriate title), Ash tries to balance her like for Seth with her friendship with Keenan and her relationship with her court, but she has a very hard time of it. Her initial choices and conditions to being Summer Queen have only served to confuse her and make her and everyone else around her miserable. And the essence of Summer and the Summer Court is happiness and frivolity, feeling carefree and exhuberant. Well, Ash is anything but these things and her court suffers for it.
Though I loved the continuation of Ash and Keenan’s tale, I became more and more frustrated the further I read. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I preferred Keenan to Seth, but Ash’s choices, or lack thereof, started to feel selfish. And Seth’s answer to be with Ash just didn’t feel in character for him. Or maybe it was his result to his choice that felt off for me.
I did painstakingly delight in getting to know the additional courts better and I really like where the storyline is taking us. I look forwards to the next installment with fantastic anticipation. There have been so many twists and turns in this chapter of Faery that what the future holds now is anyone’s guess.

Fragile Eternity is the third riveting book in a series, written by Melissa Marr. It was published by HarperCollins Publishing Company in New York, NY. Melissa Marr has lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Southern California and according to her biography she likes trying new things such as effective an archeological dig, drinking at a biker bar, and getting tattoos. She uses exceptional experiences that she has witnessed through the years as research for her books.
The main characters in Fragile Eternity are Keenan, a handsome Summer Court faery king, Aislinn, a once mortal girl who was transformed into the gorgeous Summer Court faery queen, Donia, the jealous Winter Court high queen, Sorcha, the manipulative queen of Faerie, Bananach, the faery of War, Seth, Aislinn’s mortal boyfriend, and Niall, the faery king of the Dark Court. The faery courts, Winter, Summer, Dark and Faerie, exist in a parallel world to mortals. Faeries are immortal, though they can feel pain and are mortal to additional faery courts, which have resulted in horrendous problems, centuries ancient.
“She place a hand on the center of Aislinn’s stomach and pushed ice-tipped fingers into Aislinn’s skin. The ice melted as it pierced Aislinn, but as quick as the ice melted, more extended cutting deeper into Aislinn’s stomach. Bits of it broke off and embedded inside her. Aislinn screamed. The pain was instant, burning holes inside of her, and Aislinn wasn’t sure which was from the stabbing and which was from the ice.” (Marr 162).
Donia, the Winter Court queen and Keenan, the Summer Court king, are in like. Both know the terrible problems of winter and summer loving each additional and the result if anything should go incorrect between the two. Aislinn is the Summer Court queen and though she feels no right like for her king, she must stand by him and care for him in additional ways. Donia loaths this about the court and wishes that Aislinn were out of the way. Keenan likes Donia, but he also knows that the Summer Court would be stronger if the king and queen were not only physically together, but emotionally together as well. He attempts to woe Aislinn, to the discomfort of Donia and Seth, Aislinn’s right like. Seth is infatuated with Aislinn and will do anything to be with her forever, even if it means cursing himself for eternity with the life of a faery.
“`I talked to him…about you. Changing things.’ She felt tentative as she said it, but she wanted him to know she was trying to find a way… `And?’ Seth looked hopeful for only a moment. `He said no, but…’ `Just like that. Niall’s right about him. He’d rather I wasn’t in your life, Ash. And someday, I won’t be. He’ll have everything and I’ll have nothing left’” (Marr 178).
The climax of Fragile Eternity is when Seth travels with Bananach, the faery of war, lacking telling anyone to see the high queen of Faerie and she transforms him into a very strong and treacherous faery. Seth would do anything for Aislinn and because he chose to become a faery he also must suffer the consequences. He must be in Sorcha’s court for 1 month out of the year and he belongs to her and her court. Everyone in the faery kingdoms knows about Seth’s travels; all except for Aislinn. To what seems like a month to Seth, is really six months for Aislinn. So though he thinks he is gone for only 28 days is really 168 days to Aislinn. When he is unrestricted from the Faerie court and returns to Aislinn he finds that she has tried to find new like with Keenan because she believed Seth was never going to come back. Seth is heartbroken but he and Aislinn try to sort out their relationship problems to ensure the safety of the Summer Court and Seth. The next book in the series, Radiant Shadows, describes the struggles Seth has as a faery. He is stronger than most faeries and many either want him in their court or gone forever.
I would recommend this series to teens and young adults who like to escape reality and travel to a place where anything is possible. If you are captured by a tale that can take you to another place then this is the book for you. If you delight in a book that talks about reality and truth then I suggest going to the store and choosing a different book. The characters in this series are either excellent or evil, though in some instances the difference between excellent and evil cannot be defined. Starting with the first book in the series, Wicked Lovely, would be wise and once you pick up this series there is no way you can set it back down.
