Have any readers of diet books ever felt like crying when they read contradicting recommendations by doctors/authors? Some say hi-protein and fats with lo-carbo, others say hi-carbo and lo fats and protein. Who should we laymen judge???
I am no doctor, and in all these books, their explanations for advocating some particular diet make sense. The sole problem is that when place together, one contradicts another!
It is attrocious when one reads a book on hi-protein which says studies have shown that a low stout diet doesn’t work and another book says that studies have shown that the low stout diet produce sustainable weight loss, and a high protein diet is DANGEROUS. Why are the results of studies so contradictory? Who is right????
Dr. Barnard is an advocator of low stout diets. He brings into discussion the well-known food pyramid, and the Asian’s way of food consumption. But, one is so confused. Should we try this low stout diet even after reading all the hi-protein books chiding the defects of the ex-?
I simply can’t choose sanely anymore.

Let me help you in your selection by summerizing this book. To lose weight, simply eat as much vegetables and fruits and grains as you want but do not touch any dairy, meats, or fats. There you go. If you get really hungry, stuff yourself with pasta or potatoes because it doesn’t matter but if you do not agree with the leader he has a simple answer, ‘You are confused and do not know!’ The only additional reason to buy this book is to read the leader’s silly analogies and opinions that have no references to scientific fact. This book and the rest of the leader’s publications are just regurgitations of the ancient ‘no-stout’ diet. Buy the book if this is what you are looking for. As for me, I wish I had known the leader was an extreme lacto-vegetarian for then all his opinions would of made sense and I would have gone to a more fact-based source.

Didn’t really learn anything from this or any of the additional 50 diet books that I have bought over the years.

All I can really say about this book is that it tells you to become a vegetarian. If you reflect you can do that, then you should get this book. All of the negative calorie foods are vegetables and fruits. If you can live off of that then you will lose weight.

the book is not that terrible, but certainly not worth the money. Dr. Barnard wants us to be vegans. No meat, no poultry, not even lime oil. Also, he says the the stout in tuna is “terrible stout” which is not right. The list of negative calorie foods that he provides is rather fleeting and can be obtained on the internet for free. If you reflect you can be a lacto-vegetarian, the book is for you, otherwise save your money.
