The first time she saw him, she flipped. The first time he saw her, he ran. That was the second grade, but not much has changed by the seventh. She says: “My Bryce. Still walking around with my first kiss.” He says: “It’s been six years of strategic avoidance and social discomfort.” But in the eighth grade everything gets turned upside down. And just as he’s thinking there’s more to her than meets the eye, she’s thinking that he’s not reasonably all he seemed.
This is a classic romantic comedy of errors told in alternating chapters by two fresh, amusing new voices. Wendelin Van Draanen is at her best here with a knockout cast of odd characters and a hilarious series of misunderstandings and missed opportunities. But underlying the humor are two teens in transition. They are each learning to look beyond the surface of people, both figuring out who they are, who they want to be, and who they want to be with.Amazon.com Review
Juli Baker devoutly believes in three things: the sanctity of trees (especially her beloved sycamore), the propriety of the eggs she collects from her backyard flock of chickens, and that someday she will kiss Bryce Loski. Ever since she saw Bryce’s baby blues back in second grade, Juli has been smitten. Sorry to say, Bryce has never felt the same. Frankly, he thinks Juli Baker is a small weird–after all, what kind of freak raises chickens and sits in trees for fun? Then, in eighth grade, everything changes. Bryce starts to see that Juli’s unusual interests and pride in her family tree are, well, kind of cool. And Juli starts to reflect that maybe Bryce’s brilliant blue eyes are as empty as the rest of Bryce seems to be. After all, what kind of jerk doesn’t care about additional people’s feelings about chickens and trees? With Flipped, mystery leader Wendelin Van Draanen has taken a break from her Sammy Keyes series, and the result is flipping fantastic. Bryce and Juli’s rants and raves about each additional ring so right that teen readers will quickly identify with at least one of these hilarious feuding egos, if not both. A perfect introduction to the adolescent war between the sexes. (Ages 12 to 14) –Jennifer Hubert

I believed this book [stunk] beyond all belief. This book isn’t really a tale, it’s a series of events told from two different points of view. After a while, you get kinda bored with reading the same tale but told differenty. This book is sorta like persons books that are written to teach a lesson. And I’d rather read a excellent Harry Potter book anyday.

The book I read about is called Flipped by:Wendelin Van Draanen. It is about a boy named Brice, and a girl named Julianna. First Brice stirred into the neighborhood, and when Juli met him she FLIPPED. Juli had these chickens for a school science honest, they had been hatching eggs, so Juli thought she could give Brice some eggs. For two years straight Juli had brought Brice a 1/2 dozen eggsuntil one day she caught him throwing them away.Juli had this tree called the Sycamore tree, she loved that tree one day she was talking to it and told it that she was glad she still had it, but then one day some construction workers came and cut it down. Brices mom invited Juli’s family tree over for dinner a few weeks after that happened, Brice and Juli didnt talk the whole time.At the end at the book Brice, and Juli were at this school lunch thing and everything flipped…..Brice tried to kiss Juli in front of everyone!!!!!!!!

I liked the book because of all the running away that Bryce does at the begining and that Bryce got 2 girls at the booster’s luncheon. I also liked the flipped part because it makes Bryce look like a loser. I dis- like it because Juli liked him and then it flipped. Also I didn’t like that the grandfather talks to the girl more than his own grandson. But, they end up getting closer.
