You do not need to read this book. It says what’s already been better said before and elsewhere. Yes, being able to synthesize vast amounts of information will be very useful in the 21st century. Yes, being able to be creative in interdisciplinary ways could give you an edge. Yes, current educational methods aren’t that fantastic at this and may stifle creativity. Any educator or student hoping for an edge by reading this self-aggrandizing piffle will be disappointed.

I bought this book on the basis of a number of excellent reviews. As a Ph.D. engineer, I have wide experience reading dull texts in order to retrieve a few nuggets of valuable information. But, I could not force myself to get through this mind numbingly dull writing style. I’m sure it must be a excellent book based on the additional reviews, but be prepared to suffer mental torture in attempting to read this book.

We are fascinated by this book. It describes accurately the “learning areas” available to humans all over the world and the fantastic need to tap all of them to make it in the future starting now!. My wife, Dr. Maria Elena Marroco has dedicated all her professional life trying to learn HOW to achieve the education that fosters the Five Minds of Mr. Gardner’s. I joined her in her research in 1971. Finally, in 1990, we, really, she, learned how to do it. Sorry to say, school boards in the USA and additional countries donot seem ready for this education yet. So we tried it with adults in all types of organizations with success. We would be tickled to be able to talk to Mr. Howard Gardner and contribute, but small, with his endeavor. The book is everything we hoped to find in a book of this class.
