Cornelia Mee (1815-1846) was an leader and practiced in needlework. Mrs. Mee, her spouse, and her sister ran a yarn and needlework import/warehouse business in Bath, England. Many of her knitting books were printed for ladies’ charitable societies which used her knitting “receipts” to clothe the poor mill workers who were out of work due to the American Civil War and the restriction of cotton. Her works include: A Manual of Knitting, Netting, and Crochet Work (1842), The Companion to the Work Table (1844), Crochet Clarified and Illustrated (1846), Exercises in Knitting (1846) and Crochet Doilies and Edgings (1846).

Even though this small book is nearly 100 yrs ancient, I establish the exercises fun and it was fantastic practice for doing larger projects like quilts, sweaters and etc. Even though the free preview doesn’t give you much info, don’t let that detract from the value of this book.
