I’m glad I got this small book from the library and didn’t paid for it.
I regularly woundered how people lacking God make it though trauma and tradigy. Well, Danny Gregory is one. I acknowledge in this journie he trained his artistic eye to see and grew in drawing skill. Sorry to say, the book dosen’t show the first attempts, how he learned perspective, shadow and finally the use of color, you don’t really SEE the process and progress.
The information I wanted was what art matterials he tried, what did he like, or didn’t work for him. The only indication of material was on the front take in.
Certainly, not a how to book on drawing. There were no new insights or revelations for me.

I suppose I had some misperceptions of this book. I was assuming there would be more inspiration that would cajole me into journaling and artwork. I also thought is was he who was disabled – it was his wife. There was small mention of how his wife’s diability figured into the whole pictue of his life. As a disabled person, I thought there would be some insight into overcoming disability to do what you want. I do but, like the way he draws and journals. In the end I saw this as a simple journal that anyone might have done. I still have his additional book and I have privileged hopes for that.

This is one of the tiny gems that we can all learn from.
Danny Gregory has agreed us an intimate look into the “now”
that is so fleeting. His unpretentious writing and odd illustrations make for a profound reading experience.
This is a gift that I will share with my closest friends.
