Reading Selene Yeager’s book is like having coffee with a dear friend who happens to be a biking and fitness practiced. She gives you well-researched facts, industry insider information, the kick in the butt to get going, and the hand to hold when the going gets tough.
I’m 39 years ancient, and going to ride the bike leg of a mini-tri for the first time. Selene’s book has inspired me. I just bought my first bike (with clipless pedals even) and I’m keen to hit the road with her thoughtful training, and riding advice.
A must have for new and aspiring female on and off-road cyclists.

I read the fantastic reviews on Amazon before buying the book, so took a chance. I was very pleased with the book and only I wished I could have bought the book before buying my bike to save me some time. But, it did confirmed some of the steps I took to get the bike. Besides giving tips about buying a bike, the book gave me fantastic tips on riding and the necessary things I needed in case of emergencies. I had my first flat tire this past weekend, and because I read the book, I was ready and took care of it (okay, I had some help by another rider as well). Anyhow, I recommended the book to a friend I met riding over the weekend because it was very helpful me and for first time riders. For persons who have been riding for a while you can skip some things, but there are some things that you can learn from it as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with the book and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

As a novice who hasn’t ridden a bike since junior high, I establish this book to be extremely informative and helpful. I continue to go back to it for reminders and clarification. I bought a copy for a friend who also is a novice and we compare notes and utilize it for our training for a ride in late October.

Such a wonderful, informative book. As a beginner with a tiny knowledge base about cycling, this book clarifies the nuances of everything from finding a bike, to bike-handling, to training for different race/ride events. My boyfriend, who has been racing for three years, establish this book helpful for training for an upcoming Time Examination! Fantastic book and I would recommend it again and again!

I’m returning to cycling…been about 15 years and that was really just riding my 10speed around town. This book covers everything I have questions about and more. I can tell I will use part of this book even more after I have some more “saddle time.” This is a wonderful resource for both men and women cyclist. If you’re into cycling check out her FitChik blog
