he doesn’t sound at all like the person described in the reviews or the description of the leader himself. He was mean and abusive in TV interviews. If this is how his faith and his religious group have helped him grow and find solutions in life, why would anyone want to follow the advice in the book or place stock in the insights in the book?
Since Kasich just announced that he running for administrator (and had presidential aspirations in 2000) it seems likely that this book is not so much about wanting to share the wisdom from his Bible group but more about trying to resurrect his political career. He retired from Congress in 2001 and went straight to Wall Street where he worked for Lehman Brothers until they collapsed, nearly bringing down the global economy with them.

I have absolutely loved this book till this morning. I got to page 138 and the second paragraph and it hit me in the face like a sledge hammer. In the preceding paragraphs he had just set the scene for their Monday meeting that he was going to record, and I quote, “All this takes us to the front room at the Monte Carlo on a cool Monday in March. It was not reasonably spring, but there was a sense of regeneration among our group.”
Then he blows it huge and how this got past editors is beyond me. Pg 138: “The Los Angeles Lakers had clinched the NBA Finals the night before.”
I despise basketball but even I know that the finals have permanently inhabited the last weeks of May and more recently have drifted into June. The Lakers won June 14th, 2009.
I now find myself what else that I can’t verify was manipulated to fit the desired effect like a Hollywood speech. I find myself wondering whether I want to even end. I wanted to write him directly at the book’s website but they have done a excellent job insulating him. I hope somehow this gets to him and addresses it.

I was very disappoined in this book, probably because I was expecting an inspirational tale more geared to a woman. But, I gave the book to my spouse and he painstakingly loved it.

Excellent book! Makes you want to start a Bible study group of your own.
This book really gives details of how the group started and how friendships
were formed as a result. Most vital, how each man grew mentally
along the way.

I bought this book because Kasich is running for Gov. Ohio. I was not impressed. But I may still vote for him as I like Stricklin even less. Hell I despise to vote for the lesser or two evils.
