Product Description
Written by the leader of “Small Women” and “Small Men”, this is the tale of an orphan who has no choice but to go and live at the “Aunt Hill” with her six aunts and seven boy cousins. For a name who was used to a girl’s boarding school, it all seems pretty overwhelming.

Okay, I’m being a small harsh because anyone who’s read Small Women knows that Louisa May Alcott is capable of writing spellbinding novels. But, Eight Cousins falls fleeting of her writing abilities. As a replacement for of finding the charming tale many people aver it to be, I establish a dreadfully dull tale about a young girl being raised by her uncle amongst eight male cousins. The tale drags and the character development is, at best, weak. I’d recommend skipping Eight Cousins altogether and reading Small Women, if you haven’t already.

This book is kind of dull, and takes forever to read. It is too wordy.

Eight cousins is a very well written book. It is a small hard to follow at times, but still very worth reading.

A Rosy girl is guided toward womanhood. The book delivers
ancient fashioned propriety and family tree values in 19th century culture
with literary attributed footnotes. Her work here delineates how
women could grow up healthy in a male dominated Victorian era.
The resulting novel is a small artificially sweet by today’s standards.
Style and motivation are excellent but it fails to be very vital for modern young girls.

This is a really sweet book. It’s excellent for any young girl but still appealing enough for grownups. Rose is adoreable and her Uncle Alec is a wonderful man. Alcott permanently wrote upbringing books of 1800’s times. The sequel “Rose in Bruise” is also a lovely book.
