This is the most ridiculous book I’ve ever read. Don’t buy it unless you are ready to lower your food intake to nearly none. It is for extremists. I discarded this book the same day it arrived. I don’t recommend it.

book seems to be factual but i was expecting more from reading all the reviews, leader suggests trying to eventually elimante eating all meat which is very hard for me,raw vegtables and fruits only is way too restrictive for 90 percent of americans, just my opinion .

i have a used copy of this book.. my pcp, my ob/gyn, and my father’s cardiologist could NOT agree with the quick weight loss that he suggests as being healthy… all of them said, anything that causes quick weight loss, will not stay off in the long term nor is healthy…

This is book does not clearly identify the suggested diet as being a vegetarian lifestyle. It should be noted UP FRONT that it advocates a strict fruits and vegetables only diet. By the time I realized it, I was so sick that I couldn’t place the house for 3 days. A total waste of my money!

Like many others I bought this book looking to lose weight and improve my health. I had read reviews and people seemed to really like it. Then I read about half of the book. I ongoing to doubt the leader after reading how much he was really against meat, dairy, and seemingly against carbs coming from whole grains. Here’s the issue I have: persons things are essential to your diet! Let’s take a look at the meat issue. Building muscle is a key component to losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight, but you can’t do that lacking protein. Guess what your best source of protein is? Meat! Next we have the dairy issue. Not only is dairy another fantastic source of protein, it also has calcium and bacteria that your body needs. Finally we have the confusing carb issue. First he goes on adage that whole grains are excellent for you, but then he discoruages eating whole grains and limits them severely. He goes on touting the wonders of fruits and vegetables, and he is right, they are wonderful and we all need more of them in our diet, but basing your diet off of them only makes it an incomplete diet. Whole grains are a fantastic source of carbs (which ps your body runs off of primarily) and they are a far superior source of fiber. I reflect what is ironic is that he’s writing this book tooting his horn about how his diet cures all these diseases, yet the diet he proposes will only seemingly set you up for additional health issues. For example, no more than 1200 calories? For most people that is just not healthy. Go look on any nutritional website or through any health book (not diet book) and they’ll say if you’re exercising and you lead a busy lifestyle, most people will need at least 1500. Next we have the metabolism bit. Rumor has it that having a slow metabolism and being prone to putting on weight is going to help you live longer. Sorry, something in that water ain’t clean. Finally he forbids you from snacking between meals. For some people that’s okay, but nowadays when you look at any diet book they encourage you to eat something tiny between your meals. It’s not excellent to let yourself get so hungry you’re ravenous. If you need an apple between lunch and dinner then have a damn apple! Our tummies rumble and tell us we’re hungry for a reason! But according to him we should get so hungry that we feel it in our mouths and throats. Yeah, it’s called I’ve had that take place before and I thought I was going to vomit and pass out. It’s not excellent to let yourself get hungry.
This book just seems like it is going to starve people and set them up with nutritional deficencies. A much better diet type of book that I would recommend would be The Abs Diet or even the book The New Rules for Lifting. Much better and much more sound AND researched information.
