I cant judge I quit a year ago. It really worked for me. I realized that every craving was caused by the last craving. There is no satisfaction in smoking. It only causes a new craving. I quit Sept 30, 1996.

If you want to hear all about how successful the leader was in writing the book, how grave and disgusting cigarettes are, and reading over and over that you can live lacking them (really? no kidding*), this is the book for you. I place down the book after struggling to read the first 3/4ths of it. As for as for easyway methods for quiting.. maybe it was written on the last page, I didn’t get that far. I quit using Smoke Away sold at Walmart. It really worked!! Its all natural and doesn’t place more nicotine in you and you don’t have to listen to any “ex- smoker” lecturing.

When I was 16ish…I reached for my first cigarette. I cannot recall just how much I smoked…I’d have to say much less than more. It has been my experience that the allure to smoke had much to do with publicity. I will look and BE more manly. There is sex appeal linked with smoking.
We know of the powerful effects of publicity. I was a name that DESPERATELY needed to reflect and feel more manly…MUCH MORE manly! My self esteem was in the gutter. I couldn’t have felt more low about myself.
This stems from the my incredibly psychologically impaired parents that “should never have been married, and, should never have brought my
sister and I into this world. That their psyche’s were so wounded would render incapable of parenting…providing all the emotional support a child NEEDS, on every level possible. THIS HAD SO MUCH TO DO WITH WHY I PICKED UP A CIGARETTE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Lacking this type of discussion, we will be missing the mark. Then there’s our women and how cigarette manufacturers reach out and GRAB their attention! They came up with the thought of a “clean” cigarette and virginia slims were born. I reflect they were the first of their kind. I stand corrected if I am flawed. MOVTIVATION was the key for me that had me stop smoking for nine years back in 1982 when I became ill. All the symptoms I had pointed to AIDS. My doctor said, “Lets not be alarmed.” I WAS! Tests were taken. The following 4 days waiting for the results were terrifying. I immediately stopped smoking and started to clean up my act, including how I ate and more. I selected them up again on a trip to Cancun. I smoked for 36 hours then stopped for 2 years then at some point stopped for 6 I reflect. I selected them up again about 4 years ago. Needless to say, my lungs benefited, AHHHH, during persons times of intermission. Some peoples genetics may predispose them to smoking related illnesses. There are people who smoke well into advanced years. My grandfather for example, smoked cigars, virtually all of his life and he died at 95. One can make a case that his chances were greater than persons who smoke cigarettes, because cigarette smokers inhale.
This is more or less right, yet he could have died from mouth, throat, or cancer elsewhere in his body. He simply died of ancient age. cancer. I heard recently from a man I know who heads up a huge pharmacy in one of the United States best hospitals. It was hard for me to judge, but, he clearly stated that 10% of the people who smoke contract for example lung cancer. what about the additional 90% I questioned. Many people die from lung cancer every year that have never smoked, he said. Why is this? This discovery of “particulates” in our atmosphere…our air…are so tiny that we cannot see them. But, they have been frighteningly seen from planes, that travel privileged than commercial aircraft. They are extremely harmful as they lodge themselves into our lungs causing, and have been causing lung cancer in many individuals that do not smoke.
I have been smoking between 10 to 20 cigarettes daily for the last 4 or so years. More so over the last two weeks due to increased anxiety having stirred(relocated)and additional issues. That a person chooses to stop smoking is a journey unique to that individual. Im 52 and was told by my
Dr. a few months ago, that if I keep smoking, I will havea 15% greater chance of having a heart attack or stroke. I have wondered if I have what
Freud asserted, that being a “death wish.” I have suffered from depression virtually all my life. A brain scan last spring showed that I am bipolar/add. I started to read about and could then assoicate behvior and feelings I have had for years. Enter self-medicating in various ways that in and of themselves can become problems. With regard to the “death
wish,” I question myself why I or anyone would smoke knowing that it does generally induce major medical and regularly mortal illness. It certainly defy’s logic.
