So, here we are, Dragon Age: Origins has launched, and you’ve selected it up and are ready to start your grand adventure as a brand spanking new Grey Warden. But wait! A small birdy has told you that said grand adventure is packed to the brim with deep plots, twists and turns that could snap a neck, and combat that could tax even the most observant battle-meadow minded person. Admit it, you’re a bit concerned. Well, sir or madam, be concerned no longer!
Prima has followed up their rather fantastic reputation for Gaming Walkthrough Guides with thier latest entry for Dragon Age: Origins. As the info provided by Amazon indicates, this Guide does an AMAZING job of breaking down nearly every-piece of the game from start to end. Between in depth character and class building guides to detailed maps of the world, it is unlikely you will ‘ever’ find yourself at a loss about going to the incorrect place or building the incorrect choice. Now, for persons that do not want Prima’s Guide to hold their hand all the way through, dread not. As with previous Prima Guides, the book’s leader does a honest job of letting you know in advance when huge plot moments are going to drop, leaving you to choose whether to go forwards on gut instinct or take the safer road. Also, for persons interested in the relationships your character can have with additional members of your party, the Guide fills you in on what it will take to keep them on your side if you so choose. A warning though, the Guide makes it clear it will not permanently be so simple; but, agreed the shades of grey world these characters inhabit, some things will not permanently be so cut and dry. #Intermission# But, there is a rather useful work-around, but I shall let the Guide point that out for persons who choose to make the smart choice and pick this up.
To close, Prima’s Guide, simply place, does it’s job. All the bases are covered but the option is still agreed to let you, the player, choose moments to seek help and when to go it alone. As for the Guide’s presentation, it would seem a fantastic deal was place into both the Collector’s Edition and the Standard Guide, as both are place together well and contain gorgeous in game pictures and art. But, for persons that choose to play on the consoles rather than the PC #I myself own the game for the 360# the images used for the Guide were taken from the PC, so don’t be surprised that some of the shots look…well, slightly different in regards to details. That tiny side note aside, Prima’s Dragon Age Oficial Game Guide is must buy for anyone looking to get the FULL Dragon Age experiance.

Dragon Age Origins is a very complex game and there are a lot of paths you can take through the game world. This guide was an invaluable help to me in figuring out how to get through the game.
The game is very choice oriented. Where should you go next? What quests should you do and in what order? What dialogue choices should you make? What ethical choices will you choose on? All of these things are a factor in the game and this guide helps you make the decisions that will go you forwards to conquering it all.
It walks you through the whole game so you can conquer it and it has maps and walk throughs of every area along with locations of secret items, chests, NPC’s bosses and more. It also gives you strategies for conquering the bosses and tells you your options for dialogue choices.
This is a excellent guide that will help you get successfully through a very complex game.

First this must be the worst guide Prima has unrestricted, it is more like a manual that should have come with the game. The quest desriptions were VERY brief and not very useful, the maps are tiny and they combined the PC and console games in to the book, they should have at least made 2, one for the pc and the additional for the consoles. You can get anything that is useful in the book on-line, I was really disappointed.

I got this guide for [...]$ thinking, “It’s got to be worth that.” I’ve had excellent luck in the past with Prima guides like Fallout 3 and Nothingness. Persons were really excellent guides. This on the additional hand, should have never been unrestricted. First of all, my main complaint is this thing is full, I mean FULL of spoilers. I wasn’t 5 minutes into the Origins tale when the book basically told me my family tree was going to die. I judge the words were “Delight in this night with your family tree, because it will be your last.” Ok, so I guess they could all just run away, but really. That was just the first time the book ruined part of the tale for me. The maps are poorly designed. Map markers are designated with squares and diamonds with some filled in and some not. Most of the time, the guide is referring to “Square 3″ but you have to continually flip pages back and into the world to look at the map. Not even enough thought went in to try and keep the guide on the same 2 pages as the map so you didn’t have to continually flip back and into the world. The equipment section is pathetic. It gives no locations to where the equipment can be establish.
It does have some excellent things. It goes very in depth in explaining the startup of the game. I.E. The differences between the races (human, elf, dwarf) and classes (warrior, mage, rogue) and specializations. The bestiary is…decent. The explanation and suggestions in where to place your skill points and attribution points is excellent. I like that it has an entire section devoted to building a warrior, mage, or rogue…but that’s it. Every small thing annoys me about this guide. The few excellent things it has can be easily establish on the web. Do not buy this guide. Oh..and to my assumption that it has to be worth at least 12 bucks…I was incorrect. If you pay any more than $4.57, you paid too much IMO.
