I loved the first book, and I like this sequal. The recipes are for the most part very simple and every single one I have tried is simply divine.

This book is about doing some of the preparation work in advance, then freezing. There is still prep time on the day you will serve the meal. I was looking for a book on how to prepare food that is concluded prior to freezing, and only needs to be warmed before it is served. This is not the book.

I wanted to like this book. I wanted to see some clever recipes and techniques for cooking yet to be and freezing. But the recipes here are really ordinary. There isn’t much here that impressed or inspired me. Some of the recipes probably won’t freeze well–for example, some have sour cream or cream cheese–both separate when frozen and thawed. Some recipes occupy multiple steps (e.g., roasting a squash before incorporating into a casserole) and should not be considered time-saving. What’s the point of using fresh vegetables if you freeze them (lacking parcooking) and then thaw and cook? Using packaged frozen veggies would save time and would likely result in better texture and better nutritional value. Do I really need a special cookbook to tell me how to bake a cupcake and then freeze it? I like the concept of freezer-banking food, but I haven’t establish more than a handful of fix-and-freeze recipes that work well.

If I had time to grill I would not be cooking from a freezer cookbook. (All of the time I saved building the food yet to be of time and now I have to go outside and preheat a grill?) Out of the chicken recipes: 11 out of 26 only have directions for grilling. It would be considerate of the authors to publish directions for broiling or “george forman grilling” as well.I really like the book- the food is tasty. My only problem with the book is all of the recipes for grilling.

I was buying dinners from Mr. Food no-fuss Meals until I establish this book. Building my own freezer meals saves money, and I choose the ingredients. I try to use as many local and organic products as possible. I don’t have time to prepare a meal after work but still want home cooked food for my family tree. This book allowed me to make meals on a Sunday using fresh ingredients and freeze for several weeks in the future. I bought food in bulk and saved money. The recipes are tasty, too. I have ordered the first edition and look forwards to trying more recipes.
