Product Description
A drive-by shooting rocks an affluent suburb, leaving an innocent man dead. A witness to the madness—along with his terrified teenaged daughter—Detective Ty Hauck launches an investigation into what looks like a vicious case of family tree retribution. But Annie Fletcher, the owner of a hip cafÉ who’s attempting to rebuild her life, saw something that does not fit the bloody scenario. And the truth is a gathering storm of secrets and corruption that could tear through the mansions of the town’s most powerful—ravaging a family tree . . . and pitting Hauck against his own brother.

There are few genuine surprises here, the book is honestly predictable. It’s all about a series of murders that are proposed to take in up the vast right wing REPUBLICAN military-manufacturing complex’s rape of Iraq. The chief terrible guy in this tale of fiction is the evil, corrupt, REPUBLICAN Senator from Connecticut. Somebody needs to tell the leader that in reality the evil and corrupt Senator from Connecticut is a DEMOCRAT.

Lieutenant Hauck, the detective at the center of the tale, is not drawn fervently enough. Plus, he seems to fall in and out of deep, intense like with a woman, and then a few pages later, he has written her off and that’s the end of it.
The multiple murder mystery is written well enough, but then the conclusion is drawn so quickly from far out details that is leaves a need for better explantions.
Not terrible, not excellent.

Received on time and in excellent shape. Excellent tale line but better if you read Dark Tide first.

Like his mentor Patterson, this authors books should be considered fleeting tales. They are certainly not novels no matter how they are packaged. With half the pages blank due to a new ‘chapter’ every page it’s rather ridiculous (what a way to plump up the shortage of text eh?). If you like paying novel prices for a book that is half empty and readable in a day, then this is for you. If you’d rather get an actual novel for the fee then this is like Patterson to a T – waste of money (and is perhaps also why authors like this can crank out a new “book” (use that term lightly) every month or less).
