Both volumes of Direct Hits served as brilliant aides throughout my process of studying for the Critical Reading section of the SAT. The compilation of words, masterfully selected, regularly show up on the actual tests, and thus is a must-buy for anyone who is hoping to increase their Critical Reading score or just improve their vocabulary. After going through the books as I studied for the March 2010 SAT, I establish that I was fully prepared for the sentence completion part of the exam, only missing 1 question out of the 19 vocabulary-based questions! Direct Hits was critical towards my success on the SAT and made the process to some extent enjoyable through its significant examples. Out of all the vocabulary guides for the SAT, Direct Hits is the clear winner!

This book is a must have if you want to improve your vocabulary and critical reading score on the SAT! This is not one of persons 4000 word lists where you reflect you need to know them all. The book covers point words that most frequently appear. After taking the SAT again, I improved my critical reading score by over 100 points just by studying these words!
