After reading all of the additional Dresden Files I had looked forwards to this one. Up until the end I was not disapponted but then the comment by a character that Jews were reliable for Jesus’s death really upset me. This statement although not anti-semetic in itself has been used as a justification for the last 2 millenia to kill and persecute. To place this remark in a 21st century novel is certainly reasonably provocative if not down right irresponsible. Literary licence aside this could have easily been avoided. I marvel why it wasn’t?

Regarding the use of this book on Kindle – it USED to be speech enabled, allowing a Kindle user to play the book in your car so you could hear it while you drove (or any additional place, if you wanted to give your eyes a rest). Now, all of a sudden, it’s no longer speech enabled (text-to-speech). What gives? Did the publishers suddenly change their minds? Is the support for text-to-speech disappearing from our Kindles? I bought Kindle BECAUSE it had the text-to-speech ability, and now that seems to be getting more and more useless for the books I want to buy. Horrible.

Not available for Kindle. Books before and after it in the series have been converted. Not this one. Really too terrible. Won’t buy the paperback, so they’ve missed this sale. Amazon/publisher, you’re welcome to contact me if/when the Kindle version becomes available.

Chicago based Wizard Harry Dresden is a wonderful character. The tale is a grabber from beginning to end. I really loved it and look foreward to the next book from Jim Butcher.

If you’re waiting for the next “Dresden Files”, the latest one is “Changes” (out soon). This is a reprint of a book midway through the series. They’ve added the “Book 5″ to the title now, but too late for me, so now I’ve got both paperback and hardcover copies…
