5 STAR DOODY’S REVIEW
“This is for everyone looking for medical information, from house officers, residents, and practicing physicians to patients and family tree members. There is very small unnecessary text and the book is reasonably simple to use with a ounce of medical knowledge….This book has the tremendous benefit of being updated yearly and thus has stood the test of time for recognizing what is helpful and what works. It is well worth the fee and a fantastic addition to a primary care practitioner’s library.”–Doody’s Review Service

Nice book. Mostly internal medicine. Wish it gives a more comprehensive coverage on ambulatory medicine also. I did not find much on basic surgical topics. I couldn’t find stye or cold sore on the book. Either that, or maybe I just can’t find it.

I basically agree with all the reviews of this book. But, I would fervently NOT recommend the KINDLE version of this text. The ability to search the text is very poor. Most text searches require very precise wording to locate an item of interest and will generally find the first occurrence not the primary entry that the paperback pointer references.
The only option is therefore to start at the beginning of a significant chapter and troll through trying to find the reference you’re looking for. Hardly helpful in a book that averaged around 2000 pages.
Get the paperback version. Kindle reference texts aren’t usable. Perhaps iPad will do it better…..

This medical book is fantastic. It has lots of diagnosis that a lay person can know. Makes talking with Dr. simpler and more understanding. Book was shipped quick too.
