I took the GMAT lacking studying at all years ago and scored in the upper 80s. Had I used this studyguide, I’m sure I could have cracked the 90s. This study guide provides a wealth of knowledge about how the GMAT is scored, as well as strategies to taking the test and how to approach different kinds of problems. The only down-side is that the only way you can get official GMAT questions is by buying the office GMAT book. Also, this book seems to be geared towards the middle of the road test-takers, building large parts of it not very helpful if you are already a decent test taker.

I have been studying for GMAT for a few weeks now and I reflect the OG is a fantastic source for a excellent practice on real GMAT questions. But having said that, use the OG only once you grasp all the basics and when you are nearly ready to take the GMAT. The OG does not contain any math conceptual content, so use it only for practice towards the end.
In order to get a real GMAT prep – I would recommend you buy the set of 9 books of “EZ Solutions,” or whichever book(s) you reflect you need most help with. These books are very detailed oriented and take in everything on the GMAT math. First use the review modules to get the concepts and then use the workbooks for practice. Some of the most challenging topics in GMAT math, such as permutation/combination, probability, geometry problems, complex word problems, etc., are brilliantly clarified in these books. Also, the EZ Advanced Workbook is a “must have” if you are aiming for a high score. It may be a excellent thought to buy Barron’s lacking the CD (don’t waste money on the CD version for any book). After doing all this, use the OG and you will see a dramatic difference in your scores. If you still need more practice, you may consider buying the Kaplan book (but really not needed). Save your money by not buying anything else. You don’t even have to take any of persons pricy courses. I followed this process and my scores have jumped from the 500-range to the 700-range. Haven’t taken the GMAT yet, but I have been studying hardcore. This book is the starting point for use with “The Official Guide to the GMAT Review.” Use this book before you use that one.

I bought this book, along with the 3 official guides and the Kaplan two months prior to the Gmat exam. I establish this book to be a excellent overview of the concepts tested on the Gmat. For a name like me who hasn’t sat in a college classroom for half a decade it was really useful for re-familiarizing myself with concepts that I had forgotten.
That being said, this book is in no way a substitute for the official Gmat prep books. The questions in the math review are far simpler than what you will see on the Gmat if you are shooting for a 700+ score. After a few weeks of studying this book, you need to graduate to the official guides.

This is a fantastic value. PR supplies 4 online tests in addition to this book, which contains several excellent examples of what to expect on the GMAT.
