Power hungry vampires and humans under lockdown! What’s next? You have to read Carpe Corpus to find out.
This series is action-packed, no doubt. Rachel Caine knows how to draw the reader in and hold him or her firmly in the seat. I was hooked from page one.
As the tale progresses from the previous installment, Claire, the main heroine comes into her own. She wants to see her boyfriend, restore order to town, and be a normal seventeen year ancient. Sounds daunting? It is. But I couldn’t place the book down. I liked the thought that Claire’s effective for the additional side–with the terrible guy–in order to help keep the fragile peace. For teens, she’s a fantastic role model.
But I have to admit, the secondary characters, the additional inhabitants of the Glass House, really made the tale come to life for me. The interplay between Amelie and her father The Bishop. I could tell to the power struggle between father and daughter. In this case, The Bishop is truly on the side of evil, but I could see how he could be interpreted as a puppet master.
Again, there is the predictable young adult angst and plot twists to make this book a joy to read and made me want the next installment (and the rest of the series for that matter) right now!
If you want a fantastic book for a summer afternoon, then you need to read Carpe Corpus. I give this novel 4 suns.

It was an brilliant read. i was caught up in the world of Morganville. it’s about a 16 year girl, Claire Danvers who moves to Morganville, Texas to go to school. there she meets her new friends Michael, Eve, and Shane. then she finds out that once you enter morganville, you never place. the city is run by vampires who live among humans, who have to obey certain rules. the tale keeps you on edge and is really enjoyable…

I REALLY got sucked into this series and have read 6 of them in a few days. I can’t wait until May for the next installment.

With Claire and Michael both being forced to do Bishop’s beckoning, Bring shame on being locked up, and Eve…poor, poor Eve was left in the dust. I was pretty nervous for my favorite characters and what would take place between their relationships with so much going on. If you’ve read the series so far (which I hope you have because if you haven’t ongoing with Book One you shouldn’t be reading this review) you can tell how the characters have grown. Every time there a scene between Shane and Claire came up, I got giggly. I reflect my character crush on Shane will never die. He is perfect in his Shane way.
One thing I can permanently trust with Rachel Caine’s writing is that she keeps me on my toes. There are people/vampires in this series you trust one minute and the next you’re going, wait what?! But with all the excellent guys and villians, there is one character in this series that drives me insane. I use to like to despise her, but now I just want her gone. I know it’s excellent to have a mean girl villain, but Monica Morrell drives me insane! Every time she pops up in the tale, I just want a name to knock her out.
Whatever complaints I had with the last installment, Carpe Corpus made up for it! It had the perfect twists and best ending. Besides Glass Houses, this is my new favorite installment out of the series. I cannot wait to read Fade Out and luckily for me, it comes out next month

I guess maybe I am partial to Rachel Caine but I have loved all of her books. This one was no different. The like tale between Shane and Claire and then it’s nearly like there is something there with Myrnin as well….
